How Much Money Would You Bet on Ryan Tannehill's Becoming Successful?

How much of your annual income would you bet (see definition of "successful" below)?

By "successful" I mean having a QB rating that stays consistently at 90 or above.

How is 90 an objective sign of success?

Marino had a career QB rating around 86. And he was the best QB that many of us have seen play -- ever.

Now you set up Tanny. You say that unless he rates better than Marino then he's not a success?

Right. RT is making plays in Miami that haven't been seen from the QB position since -- well, since Dan the Man.

Give it some time.

And some decent talent around him

Of course you're free to incorporate all of that into your own personal estimation of his likelihood of attaining the level of play described in the original post, and into your vote in the poll, as well, should you choose to cast one. :)

I'll bet your membership on this forum. :chuckle:
Funny, you can make me a non-member in "your" forum, regardless of how well Ryan Tannehill performs, by putting me on your ignore list.

I did the same for you long ago. ;)

Cool, thanks. I'm honored that your took time to respond  Must be nice to put a person on your ignore list when they don't agree with your opinions. Must be a long list, huh?

Seriously, though...I'm taking the wait and see approach. I'm not saying he's our franchise QB and I'm not saying he's a bust as some people here would declare. I would love to see how successful he could be if we had a semi decent offensive line and a number one receiver who doesn't drop the ball half time. Of course, Ryan isn't without his faults as well (gotta improve the pocket awareness for one), but he's shown on numerous occasions that he's well worth that number 8 pick (see week 3).

Honestly, I'm not going to bet any money on a first or 2nd year QB unless he's a sure thing and there aren't too many out there right now. Andrew Luck might be the only guy I can say with some certainty that he'll a franchise QB, but even he has things to work on.

Nothing to do with Tannehills ability but I would never bet on an individual to do anything. As a Dolphin fan however I feel we have our franchise QB for years to come and although many aren't happy he has not become the equivalent of Manning or Brees (both of which Tannehill is further along in development at this part in his career than they were in theirs) I look forward to the next couple of years and watching him grow into that role.

Not sure he will ever reach his potential with Sherman as OC and a QB coach (Z.Taylor) with ZERO experience.

If the bet was taking the Fins to a super bowl I would say hellll No way ever
But to me pretty good and have a nice rating, sure!

I cant quantify successful as qbr 90. QBR 90 average is a rating of consistent play and assuming he still takes the normal variety of pass attempts I would say that would make him a pretty darn good QB. Successful will be measured for me by clutch wins, playoff wins, and at least SB appearance. Of course, a lot of that has to do with surrounding cast. I would say Flacco is a successful QB, not great.

by ops definition of "successful" andrew luck is also not a success in indy...

:rolleyes2:

I do not place these types of bets, but I expect him to achieve your measure of success. The main reason his number is not in the upper 80s is the number of interceptions. Actually, i expect we would have a winning record if his TD/int was 14/8 instead of 14/11.

How much is also subjective. If Im on welfare and say a thousand dollars thats alot..if Im a millionaire its not.

Im confident enough that if i had the money to wager on a bet liks that...Id make it.

Id wager enough my wife would bitch at me..hows that

A better poll would be how many times a week will the [strike]obses[/strike] driven OP start yet another outright negative or passive aggressive Tannehill thread or poll?

sidenote: another flawed poll as 50% of one poster's income might be less than 10% of another's and as such be rendered "misleading" and/or subject to the bias of "financial fear"

Clue: A limited sampling with a +/-3.5% standard error reliability offered for perspective-sake
