How can there NOT be a thread on this!?!?

The first time Ryan Tannehill and Mike Wallace connect on a deep pass...ever.

On the first play of the game...we finally got to see it. Hasn't this been what we've been waiting for all this time? So lets break this down, and DON'T turn this thread into another argument about whether Tannehill can be elite. There is a 20 page thread for that already.

---------------------------------------

- How was the line as far as blocking?
- How did this play develop, what facilitated the opportunity?
- Do we credit Lazor for the play call at the perfect time? Was it his call, or an audible at the line?
- Was it simply that Mike Wallace exploited their secondary and got actual separation?
- How was Tannehill's pass? (I expect this to get bashed...as I believe it was under thrown and could have been a TD)
- Do we believe that if given enough time with blocking...these two can connect like this on the regular in the future?

I bet Marino is going to have words for RT about how he didn't air it out enough on that bomb ;)

Discuss guys...this is what we have been waiting for. At least we got to see that today...

****Also, I wasn't able to watch the first half (fml)...but it appears that we were killing it. Had Damien Williams caught that ball, and we didn't have that FG blocked, and RT didn't throw that interception...we could have been up by a TD or MORE by half.

Underthrown, should of been 6.

However, I'll take it and I would of been tempted to by a round if I was at a bar.

My thing is, I really believe Philbin/Lazor thought the game ended after the first half. How on earth do you ooze so much confidence at the end of the half, between the boldness of calling 3 timeouts to stop the clock and force a punt to the endzone to watch Mike Wallace make a hell of a catch for a TD . . . . to just come out in the 2nd half with a straight up flat playcalling strategy. It's mind boggling.

All that did was anger New England, who looked like they wanted to put 50 on you. You could of kept all of that end of the half confidence if you were gonna come out in the 2nd half and lay that dud.

I didn't see the blocking but it clearly was good enough. Double move, Wallace got huge separation so when the ball was under thrown he still had room to slow down and adjust to make the catch. When Wallace got up he was seriously pumped after that play.

At Jacksonville, they went deep and connected for 50.

I was impressed, it took 2 years but Wallace actually caught a few balls with his hands yesterday.

I like Tannehill but it's pissing me off him going for those dink and dunks. That pass didn't have enough zip in it. If he hits Wallace in stride I think it's 6 like 90%

If we won that's all you would see on this site. But because we were embarrassed all your going to see is "who should be fired and cut"

It wasnt a good pass by Tannehill even though he connected with Wallace, but if the CB plays the ball like he should have, it would be intercepted or deflected imo. It was underthrown and Wallace had to slow down and wait for the ball.

Now on the potential TD pass to Damien Williams, that was a perfect pass by Tannehill. Probably one of the best passes I have seen from him.

I'm very critical on Tannehill and his deep ball, but to me Tannehill put that ball in between the coverage because I feel if he throws that ball longer the safety over top has the perfect angle to cut that pass off. I'd have to see it again though

After looking at it again, I think Wallace would've gotten past the safety help.

For those saying it was under thrown, the pass was into the wind for one thing. I know it's hard to give anything the benefit of the doubt but for people who just wanted to see deep passes get connected, don't be overly citical of them when they happen. First game we have aired it out that much and there were some pretty passes for basically starting something practically new in week 15 of the season...

brady overthrew his long ball yesterday
