How the Wildcat works- NYTimes article

Not impressed by this at all. Not only have we not been running an unbalanced line out of the Wildcat this season, but we've been doing it without a Quarterback on the field!

He also completely misses the fact that either Smiley or Thomas pulls on "power" and "power counter" Wildcat plays.

This reads like he just looked at YouTubes of what we did against New England last year and sort of guessed.

Also, one of those diagrams has Polite blocking a defensive end. That's not what happens, either.

I replied to the articles writer. I just hope Sexy RExy believes in this notion of how to stop it. Fact is you cannot over time unless you score early and often. Indy did but then we gained control right back. Ravens interception Penny and scored instantly which changed the face of the game and took the WC out by points, not neccessarily defense vs. WC.

Jets only have two or three player difference here on D from last year. Revis is rendered practically useless in WC and running game. The WC is not the only set we run that we are successful out of.

Where I think we will be successful is 3rd and 5 where we run draws and screens. They are completely not expecting those things and if they are, then we will go deep a couple of times, trust me. Henning trusts Henne to strike one deep and we will work at it based on what their safeties do.

Rex said he was able to keep his safety back. Well, that safety is Ed Reed. I also do not see them keeping their safety home all day with our passing offense so that point made in the article doesnt make sense for the Jets.

I actually see us having success outside of the WC because they will be having 8-9 guys in the box.

Ginn end around time.

yeah, to say that the jets D is one of the most feared in the league is a bit of a stretch, and to say that their backfield is better than the ravens' of last year is really reaching, even excluding reed.
also speaking to the points made, it's not just a matter of adjusting your line and defeating the play, our line is one of the most adept rush blockers in the afc, pure maulers, outside of jenkins the jests really aren't the strongest d-line.

13th ranked. Not really endorsing of a stat if they are so vicious.

yeah the ravens were like #1 in rushing until today without rex and his scheme....his success has a TON to do with the fact he has 2 sure fire HOFer's and 5 or 6 perennial all stars...the jest are good but like you said 13th isnt all that scary i think we can run effectively tomorrow and look for play action off of it now that Henne has had 2 weeks to work with first team.

Meanwhile the Ravens have the 25th ranked pass D and the Jets are ranked 6th. Overall the Jets D is ranked 4th and Baltimore's is ranked 10th. Our scoring D is ranked 2nd and their is ranked 12th. If you want to play the stat game there are far more that support the Jets with Ryan than Baltimore without him.
