How to beat the Jets...
On offense...
1) Pass away - The Jets secondary is awful. They were consistently 2-3 yards off of the KC receivers, who are hardly a bunch of Pro Bowlers. All Green needed to do was play pitch and catch.
2) Once the safeties are well back to stop the big pass, start running around the ends - The Jets were very stout up the middle, but KC was able to execute a number of off tackle runs for big gains. Time to use Ronnie Brown and Travis Minor's speed around the end in runs and screen passes.
On defense...
1) Don't worry about the run - I think age has finally caught up to Martin. Martin couldn't hit a hole to save his life against KC. Miami has a better run D than KC and spent a good deal of time behind Denver's line of scrimmage, which is where they will find Martin. With Jordan gone, there is no alternative to Martin.
2) Blitz the hell out of the left side of the Jets OL - The Jets left side was a seive against the Chiefs and a major reason why Penny was setting new fumble records. Jason could have a big day next week.
3) When not blitzing, fall back into a nickle or dime zone - The Jets passing offense was actually rather good last week and could have been better if not for the dropped balls. Miami's DBs had a good game last week. However, the more DBs the merrier.
4) Note to St. Nick - Keep Madison the hell away from Coles. Coles owns Madison. Put Daniels and a safety on Coles.
Most of all...
Keep the Phins players from reading their own press clippings and that of the Jets. The Jets are better than last week and I am not at all convinced that Miami is as good as they looked last week unless they concentrate. Instead, show the players that ridiculous line and get them pissed. St. Nick needs to be on the players like white on rice during practices this week and maybe they can pull off the upset.
