How to beat the Titans...

The Tennessean contacted four NFL personnel executives whose teams faced the Titans this season. We sum up their thoughts on how the Ravens can beat the Titans:
Run against the nickel...
As quick as the personnel folks were to point out that some teams, particularly the Patriots and the Colts, ran successfully against Tennessee's nickel package, they were also quick to credit the Titans for making some adjustments.
Still, they said rushing against the nickel (five defensive backs) is probably the best way to go.
The Patriots rushed for 161 yards, mostly against the nickel. Since then the Titans have kept their base 4-3 look on the field more often, even against some three-wideout looks.
Don't run against the 4-3...
Run at Kearse...
Put the heat on...
Handcuff Mason...
Speaking of third down, the Ravens must bracket wide receiver Derrick Mason. Mason had 95 receptions this season and 35 of those (37%) came on third down. Four of his eight touchdowns were also on third down.

Be aggressively patient. This is in regard to Lewis. The Tennessee defense has to run to the ball, but not overrun Lewis.
The Ravens want defenders flying to the ball with extra zeal because some will over-pursue and leave cutback lanes open for the fleet Lewis.
It happened enough this season that Lewis broke off seven runs longer than 30 yards and four longer than 50.
The Ravens want out-of-position defenders trying to tackle Lewis from the side, rather than squared up. Defenders hitting him from the side usually slide off the 231-pounder.
Keep the linebackers clean. The Titans defensive line needs to keep the Ravens offensive line occupied. If the Ravens consistently get some of their massive linemen (they average 330 pounds) into Tennessee's linebackers, it will be a long day for the Titans.
Make third down important...
Remember Reed...
Ray Lewis gets most of the attention in Baltimore's defense for obvious reasons, but personnel executives consider safety Ed Reed an elite player as well.
