Alright, I am in California and will have directTV Sunday Ticket early in September...

I don't suppose many pre-season games will be on basic cable until then? Will NFL Network show all pre-season games?

and just a tidbit about the directv NFL Sunday ticket package, you will notice the word "SUNDAY" in that package name. It's there for a reason. They ONLY show games on Sunday. Remember a couple years ago when the Dolphins vs Titans was moved to Saturday because of a hurricane ? Directv didn't show the game live on Saturday but had a tape delay of it on Sunday.

These are the NFL network airing times for the games, not the actual date and time they're being played.

Monday, August 13
Jacksonville at Miami, 1 pm

Tuesday, August 28
Tampa Bay at Miami, 9:30 am

Saturday, September 1
Miami at New Orleans, 11 am

the one not listed is week 2:

Thursday, Aug. 16
Miami at Kansas City, 8:00 pm

apparently this one's live on ESPN. Hopefully for those of us in Canada TSN picks it up, but somehow I doubt it.

Remember 2005 when all the games except for a couple were on Saturday afteroon? I think it had to do with Christmas being on Sunday but any way, were those games on?

Yeah, that one's an ESPN game.

Also, for those of you who may be up at odd hours of the night, most of those other 3 games are also being shown at odd hours of the day. The full television schedule for August is on the NFL Network site.

You're mistaken. The only time the NFL has games on Saturday is the last 3 weeks or so at the end of the season after the College season has wrapped up- or in the Dolphins case lately, if the game has to be moved up because of an incoming Hurricane. In '05, the only game that got moved was against the Chiefs, which I believe was actually played on a Friday night. 2004 had the opening game against Tennessee moved to a Saturday, and the game against the Steelers was moved as well.

As far as I know The NFL Network re-airs preseason games and looks into the live games.

In '04 the opening game against the Titans was moved up to Saturday and NFL Sunday Ticket played it at the original time on Sunday at 1:00 AM Eastern.

I believe their is a law in the US that the NFL cannot broadcast games on Friday and Sat until after Thanksgiving because it will take away from High School and College football. Thankfully here in Canada they DID broadcast the Friday night game in 05 against the CHiefs, but they didn't broadcast the 04 Titans season opener...that one we had to wait for Sunday.

No, he's correct. The NFL moved all but 2 games to Christmas eve that year, which was on a Saturday.

Sunday ticket was allowed to broadcast those games because they didn't conflict with High Schools or Colleges.

Yeah it was basically an NFL Saturday instead of Sunday with Sunday featuring the prime time (basically the Monday Nighters.) I'm going to be pretty upset if I miss a game this year because of a moved game date.
