Our team is depleted of talent, trades have made us worse on paper. But how would everyone feel if we posted a winning record? 8-8?

I would feel indifferent but positives would be

1. I would feel pretty excited that our coaching staff can actually coach these players up to their full potential. That gives fans optimism that they can continue to do that with incoming players.
2. With the decent roster, we have so much in CAP SPACE next year and have a stock pile of pics( Granted Grier needs to hit on these)

Negatives

1. We dont have the overall #1 pick to draft a QB. We would need to trade up and use our #1's rather owning the number 1 pick and use our other #1s for other areas of need.
2. Half full or half empty view on a mediocre season?

If Flores could pull 8-8 with this putrid roster it likely means that Rosen has developed into a Top 10 QB and that the defense has outpoerformed thanks to great coaching and young talent.

So I’d be very excited that we could build on that success with a bounty of draft picks.

I've never watched a fins game hoping for them to lose. 2 things I hope for to see; some play making, and a win. If we had a winning record at the end of the season, it would mean that we had a better team than expected. (Is that a bad thing?) It also means we had better coaching. (Is that a bad thing?)

A winning season gives me a clearer vision of what we have and what made us successful. I would be disappointed if the fins ended the season with a losing record . All this means is yes we would be in position to pick up a great qb, and tons of other players(which could happen with a winning season as well).
But even worst, we lose 1 year to figure things out, and would need another year to figure things out. If you are telling me with this approach we will win a Superbowl in 2 years sign me up. Wishful thinking.

It would be very hard for us to accomplish that without Rosen being an absolute stud.

So, barring a complete fluke of a season, I'd be stoked.

Agreed with all the above. I understand the initial reaction - OH **** BUT OUR AWESOME QB FROM THE 2020 DRAFT!!! but it really comes down to this - are these victories with Rosen or Fitz? Split 50/50? Does Rosen look good? If not that's still okay, because Fitz alone playing out of his mind isn't going to be crushing anything near 8-8 with this quad.

So you need to consider this - if we're anything near .500 we are absolutely going to be over the moon. That will mean either one side of the ball REALLY showed up. We will have tons of young guys who will have flashed tremendous potential. This forum goes absolutely insane with hype of a good preseason game.

If we can walk away from next season with 3-4 players that are "surprise" quality starters, then you have to view that as nailing 3-4 extra picks. Then guess what? We've got all the ammo we need to move up for our QB if necessary. If we even need to.

It'd be fantastic.

I would feel great, but it's not going to happen......

Who on earth possesses the wherewithal to see that scenario in negative light?
If we end at .500 Flores should be given the COTY without even a vote. We would instantly be a playoff team in 2021 and frankly if people are mad about that bc we didn't fulfill their dream of getting there by drafting their "sure thing" then i guess i would say they're stupid
