At the beginning of the season, I felt Miami's talent level was slightly above average. That might have been true if players like Albert Wilson, Ryan Tannehill, Josh Sitton and others had managed to stay healthy. Wilson was the biggest playmaker on the the offense and making fans forget a little bit about Jarvis Landry.

Anyway, now that the team is more than half-way through the season how would you evaluate the talent? I ask this because I know there is a lot of disappointment in the coaching staff. Is that disappointment legitimate, or should the concerns be directed more at the front office?

Overall with the injuries sustained, the talent level has dropped significantly. It is a mixture of both coaching and their inability to adapt to changes fast enough. The depth can only go so far but the coaches just have not shown the expertise involved in managing the depth and making changes on the fly as fast as you would expect. They get stuck and stay stuck for far too long.

The perception of talent level is directly related to our pass protection...and pass rush for that matter.

Depth by definition is going to be average or below average. With as many injuries as we've had, the talent level has dropped. Before all the injuries I felt we were slightly above average.

I think it's pretty unrealistic to expect a FO to give you above average depth at so many positions. You just have to hope you get lucky in that respect. With this many injuries to this many key positions/players, is there any team in the league that wouldn't be waving the white flag?

I mean seriously. Take any team's starting QB, most productive WR, and two of their top 4 starting OL, and tell me how they'd do. (of course add in the smattering of week to week injuries).
Rams or KC look as good?
Saints?
Pats?
Bungles?
Stillers?

at this point just below average. We do have some young players that might develop but at this point, it's below average.

First, I think the talent

Here are my qualifications . . . I'm only concerned about starters. Every team's backups are below average compared to starters. Second, I'm not concerned about injuries for purposes of this query. My evaluation is assuming no injuries. That said, slightly above average.

The starters were average to above average but the bench players playing now are well below average and in some cases don’t belong in the nfl, mostly on the o-line. These back up tackles are miserable.

That's where I'm at as well. I know getting quality depth is a concern for all teams. Very few have it. New England does a better job with depth, but maybe that's good coaching as well. They rarely spend on high-end talent, though, and their backups seem almost interchangeable with their starters. Different animal if Tom Brady goes down obviously.

All that said, I do think the team should learn from the past and have depth at the crucial spots like offensive line, defensive line and quarterback. Miami's defensive line, while not great, does have pretty good depth. The offensive line seems to barely have five starting caliber players every year. Miami needs a "good" developmental quarterback at the very least.
