I am interested to see how my fellow fans would "fix" the mess that is the Miami Dolphins...without getting into the coaching debate...how does this team get better with limited draft picks and from what i understand,a very thin freeagent pool to pick through.Get rid of aging defensive players to accquire draft picks?Resign our freeagents?or perhaps a total rebuilding process? At this point (and I never thought i would say this)I think the best thing to do is to rebuild in earnest. not some half baked qb replacement. This team is many players away from being a good team let alone an elite one,and although i love jason and zach it may be time to part with them while they still hold "some" value.Others i see going... mcmicheal, chambers, and the whole defensive secondary.Thoughts fellow dolfans?

I will love to see Mike Singletary be our HC. Draft Jarret in the 1st round. Then Draft Troy Smith in the 2nd. Pick up Nate clements and Asante Samuel and Tony Gonz,s in Free agency.

Assuming we get a decent coach. This team needs youth and the talent needs to be built from the inside out. Meaning priority is on the offensive and defensive lines.

Trade jt for a 1st or 2nd. Get what you can for zach either trade or unload cater and every other vet in their 30s. Draft a qb to sit behind cpep for a year or two. and suck up the sorriness for a few of years. then have a team with every one in their mid 20s. Hire real scouts/GM people.

well there's a list of things we need to do so here I go

get more consistent WRs - get a guy like Dwayne Jarret in the draft and sign a Shuan McDonald
improve o-line blocking - in FA get a true LT
add youth and depth on defense - have a good draft
find a starting OLB - Adualius Thomas or Lance Briggs
get a FB who can catch as well as block - Brian Leonard anyone?
get a future QB - maybe Lemon is the guy, if not draft a Jordan Palmer

Draft Troy Smith second round? I woulda argued that before the championship game, but did you see him vs Florida? You still want this guy second round? Dont blame it on Ginn, he has other recievers, he just got outplayed.

on that note Quinn had a horrible game also, so is he a sure fire 1st rounder? still want him?

First up I would make sure that we get extra draft choices for 2008 by making sure we bring in less than we let go. With 20 veterans out of contract its time we did a New England/Eagles and get some extra 3rd round picks. Therefore I'd bring in mainly low/mid priced free agents.
Keep Bowens and Holliday if possible, not too worried about the rest.
Draft a QB high if one is there for the pick who is worthy. I'd use No 9 if its good value. Also pick OL and CB if there is good value in rounds 2 & 3.

I would first off fire Mularky and bring in a good OC. Then draft a QB if a good one is avail at #9, if not then draft a good LT at that spot. The QB is to be groomed for Daunte's eventual retiremnt OR in case he can't get back to his Pro Bowl form of 2004.

Next draft another OL, or land a solid OL in FA so Houck has some talent to build a serious OL. This will give Daunte time to throw and read defenses, and give Ronnie & Ricky some running lanes so we don't have to depend solely on Daunte's arm.

Next look for a speedster in the secondary either in the draft (AFTER QB/LT) and get Jason Allen in there as a starter, alongside the new speedster.

Next look for someone to push Booker/Chambers into becoming who they can be, or to replace CC/Booker. Spend LOTS of time teaching Hagan so he can push for a starting spot next season.

See if we can afford to pick up Briggs in FA to start alongside Crowder & Zach, otherwise look for another OLB in draft or who else is avail in FA.

Try to trade Joey for a 5th or 6th, if we draft that QB to groom, keep Lemon as DC's backup.

But that's only what I would do, for however little its worth.

Start of with determining what type of team I'd like to field. Do I want the focus of my offense to the running or passing game? Do I want the defense to play cover-2 or 3-4? It also depends on the landscape of the NFL FA pool. Addalius Thomas and Lance Briggs would make great additions but that would require releasing or not retaining some DL talents like Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holliday. I personally don't know enough about the DL talent they drafted (e.g. Kevin Vickerson) to determine whether or not the free agents along the defensive line are worth retaining. The LB corps is not as big a question mark with Crowder and Thomas there however, they desperately need more depth and a capable OLB/DE pass rusher. The secondary needs upgrades at CB. S is hopeful set in the future with Bell at SS and J.Allen at FS however, I don't know whether or not Jason Allen is talented enough to start at the position. I would have to see him in practice and then evaluate. Andre Goodman had a decent year but after 6-10, no one really had a decent year except for Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor, who went to the pro-bowl.

Offensively, no one is safe from scrutiny. Every position with the exception of fullback and running back needs replacing. Daunte Culpepper should fully be allowed to earn his job back.

With all that being considered, here are my moves.

1. Sit with Randy Meuller and ask him what are his plans for the future. Does he want to stay with the Dolphins. If yes, what are his plans for the future? If his plans are sound, ask him what he needs to reach his goals. If he does not want to stay, speak with Ozzie Newsome of the Ravens and offer double his current salary and position to come work for the Dolphins. If he doesn't want to, ask him who he recommends and go from there until you find a quality personnel guru who will staff the right people.

2. Find a coach who would work well with the personnel people

3. Have the coach and personnel man determine what type of team they want to field.

4. Defensively, determine if the younger players are talented enough to begin starting immediately. Release the older players to have more salary cap freedom. Sign Lance Briggs and Addalius Thomas immediately for whatever they want.

5. Offensively, wait for the draft and find the best offensive personnel I could find.

6. Drafting needs: WR, CB, OL. Draft a lower round QB (i.e. Trent Edwards) with physical and mental ability to play in the leauge. If we are able to draft a WR in the 1st, then consider trading Chambers for a 1st or 2nd (whichever you could get).

6. Do not let Ricky Williams play again for the Dolphins. Trade him for draft pick(s). He's talented but not reliable enough. TO may be a pain in the *** but at least he's reliable.

7. Lastly, win super bowl.

Seems simple doesn't it? ; )

Man im glad im not in charge of all those decissions. I have a headache just thinking about it... I just hope everything works out so i can witness #7 on your list.

I really agree with your line of thinking. WR "IS" our #1 need on this team. Close behind is LT. The only other thing I would add is getting a playmaker in the secondary (only 5 interceptions this year) would be a welcomed addition.

Ultimately, if I had the power, I would make Scott Pioli an offer he simply couldn't refuse.

I would then turn the whole thing over to him, let him hire a head coach he wants to work with and let him develop his game plan for the team.

first of all get a head coach, sing lance briggs or adalious thomas, sing clements or samuels.sing the guy from cincinati the lineman cant remember his name and sing gandy from the bills.fire boolarky get a real oc
draft a qb in the first round to sit behind c pep or to play if culpepper isint ready trade chambers for a second and draft a reciever and a ol men with the second round.draft a tigth end with our third and a saftey with our fourth probably the overstreet guy. With our 6 and 7 the best player posible
maybe a kicker.then with this we will have a greart o-line ronnie and ricky
improved secondary better recievers and a solution at qb.And a good oc

Some good ideas but some stuff just isnt feasible here guys. We wont sign 3 of the biggest names in FA, so we will not be getting Clements, Samuel AND Briggs for instance. JT is our best player and has 3-4 good years left, do NOT trade him unless he asks for it, ZT isnt gonna command enough in a trade for us not to miss his production. Ricky Williams isnt going to command anything, he has pretty much 0 value atm. Chambers will not be traded for anything above a 3, and thats pretty damn iffy.

What do I want?
1)I want to see either Mueller or a guy we bring in (Reese/Pioli etc) given real GM duties, and have the HC not calling ALL the shots.
2)I want to bring in a coordinator for our new HC, check my sig for the most likely candidates.
3)Draft a QB in round 1 or 2. Daunte will compete but im not betting the farm that he can be a probowler again, i want to see longterm stability at this position and the sooner the better.
4)Get a stud LT. There are a few we can pursue in FA, if not look to the middle rounds in the draft.
5)Bring in 1-2 good FAs. Assuming we dont get a T, id like to see a CB and LB. Adding young talent to the D in FA would allow us to focus on our offense in the draft, something we desperately need to do.
6)Sign key FAs like Bell and Holliday, but we can cut a few bloated contracts loose (Zgonia anyone?) Our young talents MUST be evaluated and given a chance
7)Draft for offense, we NEED to score points. QB is a must early, and WR and LT should be looked at quickley as well. At the WR position we should look to increase overall team speed. CC is fast, but he never seeems to get that seperation a guy like Harrison/Johnson/Smith have. We could also use more speed on KR. I love welker, but hes just not fast enough for that position.
8)Overall goal-build a longterm viability for this franchise. It seems to me that alot of people want a Super Bowl or bust, that we need to keep reaching above ourselves for a SB NOW. Im more interested in getting this franchise to a Patriots level, where we can compete for more than one SB before imploding (like the Titans a few years back).
9)Have Waynes jet dump its lavatories over the Alabama football field while Saban is there.
