Just for fun, who would you have drafted? This isn't meant as a criticism to Grier. We all like different players and here's your chance to be GM. My own rules were no trade down and pick in real time.

1. (13) Warren TE
For me, it came down to Warren over Pearce. The Travis Kelce comp feels about right to me. I thought he'd move the needle on offense.

2. (48) Ersery OT/OG
Interesting that this is the spot he ended up being drafted. I liked four offensive linemen in this range: Savaiinaea, Ratledge and Wilson were the others. Was hoping Collins would fall, but those DT'S were flying off the board.

3. (98) West DT
He went about 20 picks later to SF, but this was an urgent need at this point. Maybe a slight reach.

4. (116) Jack Sawyer DE
Think he's a little underrated. Steelers took him a few picks later.

4. (135) Sanders QB
Thought he was too good to pass up at that point. FYI, love the Ewers pick. Was also looking at Riley Leonard later.

5. (150) Gordon RB
I knew he was a top 30 visit for Miami and Gordon just made sense. The one shared pick. Grier got him a full round later. Kudos to our GM. Potential steal.

5. (155) Han**** CB
Buffalo got him later in the 5th. I considered Oronde Gadsden Jr., but went need. Also consider Conyers.

7. (224) Black CB
Knew Miami had interest.

7. (231) Conyers TE
Went undrafted. Considered him earlier. Credit to j-off-her-doll on this one.

7. (253) Ivey DE
Went undrafted.

Wow! Great draft… I think Sanders would be tough though..especially in Miami - Mr bling that feels like he ain’t gotta do a thing. Drive’N his Bentley and dissin the Dolphin possey. Just sayin even tho I suck at rappin…

Your draft is way juicier than what we did. Though I like Ollie…and I do like the 6’7” 325lb mofos we got on D.

Even though your draft in many ways feels way more tempting bc of the upside and thrill of playmakers and GOOD secondary play - the actual draft has the potential to win when it matters IF the guys pan out…

Thanks that’s cool!

I wouldn’t have taken Warren for Miami, but Chicago should have. I still like what Miami did. Get the best player at the biggest position of need. The lines need fixed and TE is a luxury.

Sanders, no way. There are numerous valid reasons the owner picked him, not football people with stakes. Zero elite skills. If his name is Jones, he’s a Group of 5 college QB. He isn’t going to work hard enough to make it in the end. Can’t read a D and never played for anyone but his daddy. Life has been too easy for him, and he learns the wrong lessons from what little adversity he’s had — not everyone is a hater; show you’re serious and be confident combined with humility and gratitude. Lacks genuine leadership qualities, and nothing about him says he’s coachable. Take Will Howard if you’re going to go QB there.

Everything else is fine

I liked Howard, too.

Sorry for the delay, I wanted to give this a bit of thought before I attempted it.

I'm going to leave both trades in place, because unlike mock drafts, these trades were actually possible and we had an offer.

1. Shemar Stewart: Grant is the safer pick here, but I will always swing for the fences in the first round. Hell, I could be proven hella wrong here, but the last prospect that I liked this much was Micah Parsons.
2. Jonah Savaiinaea: I like the trade, and press reports have made it quite clear that a couple of other teams would have taken him before we got the chance. He was the highest rated Guard with a possible Tackle utility left on the board here.
3. Traded for Savaiinaea.
4. Traded for a third next year, plus an upgrade from 7th to 6th this year. This is excellent trade book value, and I'll ALWAYS take that because building a team is never about THIS year. This year is a desperation play, and smart teams maximize overall value when possible.
5. Jordan Phillips (our new NT). He was the correct pick in the right spot.
5. Marcus Mbow: After taking Savaiinaea, this might be a greed-based pick, but I think this guy is tailor made for our system. He may end up as a Center.
5. Zah Frazier: Slightly overaged and under-experienced, but he is a tall traits-based prospect. (much like Marshall, but I had him rated higher)
6. Ollie Gordon: Can't fault this pick either. Great value in the spot. Could be scary good if he's as good as he looked in '23.
7. Quinn Ewers: Might have taken him in the 5th or 6th, absolutely would take him here. Guy played hurt all year rather than give up his spot... Lottery ticket type of pick on a guy with a solid resume.
7. Jalin Conyers: Sure, we got him as an UDFA, but I wouldn't have known this before this pick. Might have gone B.J. Adams; I really liked him as well.

So, I didn't change much... I substituted a second OL for the second IDL, and picked a different CB, while grabbing Conyers instead of a safety-- a position that I'm NEVER high upon. Whether I'm right or wrong should come down to Stewart... who I think has all-pro (or bust) potential.

Disagree on the Sanders pick. I would have doubled up at DT like Grier did.

Otherwise, good job. It would have been interesting to see the combinations Miami could run with Warren & Jonnu, Tyreek and Waddle on outside, and Achane or Gordon in backfield.
