He never was. He was a #2 that got lots of picks. The #1 was Jones. He always played man on #1s. X always played the flood side with Holland behind him and next to the slot. He was used to get help, that was why he kept gambling and under-cutting throws. He's never had the speed to not trail behind WRs. He's never been the athlete to stay in phase. He either jammed the WR or played trail coverage and under-cut throws. He's playing the #1 now while Kohou is on the flood side next to the slot now. He might be alright if we get Jones back or a new #1.

Wow I don’t agree w this. He’s so much better than Jones. He played mostly on Diggs the other night and Diggs was essentially a non-factor (60 yards). Since the Pitt game, X has pretty much reduced the other teams no 1 to very limited. The one big play he gave up was the bomb to Mike Williams. But he’s been quietly blanketing his guys. Kohou is a fine player but I’m not trusting him to play 1:1 w a Diggs or Williams etc week in and out yet.

Dude, just stop with the hyperbole. He was totally a #1 CB. Ridiculous.

You’re being dramatic. X was that dude. I agree Jones was shutdown though which is why teams tried to live or die by X usually dying. Jones was crucial to this teams success as for whatever reason Boyer won’t call press man unless he has two great corners. If you want to look at why Howard has struggled this year look no further than Boyer. Howard is a press man corner, without letting him get physical you’re taking away part of his game that makes him good. Boyer continues to call off man coverage or zone coverage. Howard didn’t have the speed to keep up prior to injuries and aging, he certainly doesn’t now. Was never great in zone either way and it doesn’t help our linebacker and safeties seem lost which doesn’t help zones work.

Nobody here understands coverage schemes! Yay! Lol, have you not noticed that Howard used to play the opposite side from where he's playing now? Really?

Pretty weak technique to question people's football knowledge because they disagree with you.

X was the guy you put on their X WR. I understand coverage fine.
Go re-watch his highlight reels look where he lined up and what his responsibilities where and look at some of Jones's too and look at where and how Kohou and X line up now.

they paid him like a #1. we really could use jones now but i guess that's wishful thinking

Y'all tell me why Iggy lined up on Diggs when Diggs destroyed him when we played the Bills in the opener and Jones was missing. Because he was replacing Jones.

They almost always put him on the other teams no 1 - still do this year even w the injuries nagging him. He gets moved all over

Sometimes the offense schemes a receiver into position (motion etc) where he draws a different defender. But X is usually matched up on the alpha guy.

Pretty weak argument to defend your beliefs. Go look at the tape.
