Hows Roth doing?

F

FLOUNDER

I havent heard much from him since he got drafted..

Does he start? and is he still as physcall as he was in college?

thanks,

Roth is doing fine. He isn't turning the world on fire. He is actually pretty good at being a run stopper. Which is funny since that is the exact opposite reason most people thought he was drafted.

He has a lot of work to do, however he has a good motor and I am sure he will put in the work and be better next season.

I think you might see more of Roth next year if Miami is able to pick up Greenway in the 2006 draft.

Now then, to get back to the thread. I thought, and still think that Roth will come around nicely. He might not ever be a sack leader, but for a third in his first year, he is doing nicely. In a year or two, with Man-child Wright and JT, I think we will have one of the more accomplished D-lines. JMO once again.

Personally i think Roth is coming along pretty good. It seems that his coaches are taking their time with him. He doesn't really seem to be swatting people out of his way, but when the ball is snapped, it seems he pushes the O-line into their backfield. He doesn't really seem to shed off the blocks so well just yet, but he consistently gets penetration. He comes off the snap, and just jams forward.

i really don´t understand why is he is rumored to be undersized, he is 6-4 272 thats chargers merriman´s size and he is huge, also jt is 260 but that was at the beginning of the season

The thread has been cleaned up. Some of you guys are walking a fine line.

I don't believe he is undersized. I believe he is under knowledged and not super athletic as Merriman. Basically when a player fails to live up to HUGE expectations people are looking for reasons so they say things like he is undersized or that he is slow.

Some players take longer to adjust to the NFL. Roth is just one of those players that does not dominate like a Merriman. Plus the fact that unlike a Merriman he has very quality players playing ahead of him.

I agree, its like i said... hes got some power, I just dont see the "moves" from him. I don't know, maybe hes just trying to keep to the basics. He get's penetration, but it doesnt even look like he tries to shed blockers

Just looking at his college highlights he didn't have any moves in college. He just used brute force and relentlessness. Which does not work in the NFL.

He may not be a great, but if he can push his guy into the backfield, he should have a pretty decent carreer.... He may not sell that many jerseys, but as long as he's not getting beat at the line, i think he'll be okay.
