There is an unsubstantiated rumor floating around Detroit that Rod Marinelli is trying to lure Houck in to be the Lions OL coach...

This is rumored to have been a factor in letting Larry Beichtol go.

My question ... is Houck still under contract?

This would not surprise me. I think HH is under contract, but not sure. Even if he is, i think if he gets a promotion to OC or something along those lines he can go.

If the Lions push I hope Wayne keeps his wallet open and his hand on the pen.

I don't think Houck wants to be an OC or anything above an O-Line coach, he's been around for a while and from what I know has turned down further advancement a number of times.

Also I find it odd that Houck would want to coach the Lions, he is highly regarded as one of the best O-Line coaches, I would think he could get that job for a better team.

Wouldn't wanna lose him with that sweet o-line play

His contract is up but I think if Cam Cameron would come here to coach he would stay and possibly become an offensive coordinator.

i believe he's still under contract..i think he has 1 year left..i know he's the highest paid ol coach..

He has the best credentials period, obviosly in his two years here our Line has struggled. But I think its more of a personel thing, Saban and Mueller are more at fault, theres only so much he can do with what he has.

He has one year left and no way Miami gives Detroit permisson to interview him so forget that.

Houck signed a 3 year contract so he has 1 year left. Becoming Detroits OLine coach would be a lateral move and would not be allowed by the league. Even if a team wants to make him their OC, the Phins do not have to give that team permission to talk to Houck (though teams rarely deny assistants the opportunity to better themselves)
