ok, I know the Patriots won 3 Super Bowls but come on.. how are they actually expected to win the AFC East? The Dolphins were 1 game behind them in the division last year... 1 game. Adding Daunte Culpepper alone gives us an extra few wins and then look at all the people the Patriots lost. I just don't see any way that the Patriots can even contend with the Dolphins and I think the ESPN analysts are just giving them too much credit because they won 3 Super Bowls. I see the Dolphins finishing the season with a record of anywhere from 10-6 to 12-4 and it's possible that the Dec. 31st game against the Colts could determine home field advantage in the AFC.

ESPN's preseason power rankings have the Dolphins ranked 8th and I like our team better than most of the 7 teams ahead of us. Bottom line, the Dolphins should be in the top 5 teams and even though I doubt they'll win the Super Bowl this year, they have a shot at it. Anyone else think the Dolphins will win the AFC East?

Too much credit? They DESERVE all the credit they get because they won those Super Bowls. Most of their team from those title's are still in tact, which is the main reason why they are still considered so good. Their team is also proven while ours is not.

While I do think that we have a good shot at winning the division this year, the AFC East still belongs to the Patriots until someone takes it from them. Our offseason aquisitions won't mean jack if we can't perform on the field come the fall. The Patriots have been a very consistent, winning team for the past half-decade.

they have an easier schedule this year and get a lot of players back from injury. Until claimed by us the title is theirs...

I hate the Pats but I have to agree with the posters above. They won a Supoerbowl with Troy Brown at nickel back for Christ's sake. They just win, the fact they've done it without huge stars (although than Tom Brady who is a star because he wins, not because of stats) is why its hard to keep them out of discussions about the best teams in the NFL.

Rodney Harrison, Chris Brown, Willie McGinest, Richard Seymore, Teddy Bruschi, Ty law, Lawyer Malloy, Rosevelt Colvin etc.etc. No stars?

I disagree, they've lost quite a bit of talent and coaching. They do deserve the credit for the time being, but with an * beside their prediction.

Chris Brown? Colvin? These guys are not "stars". Good does not equal a star. I agree they have good (if not great players) on their team but they dont set the world on fire with big names. Seymour and Harrison are the only guys that would classify as stars but you dont hear them being talked about as other safties or DTs, they just go to work and get the job done.

Now see!!....We do agree on some issues  . Picking the Patriots is just the easy, safe and uninspired thing to do.

They were stars before they got there. Brown was a perrenial probowler with Seattle and Pitts and Colvin was concidered a top LB in the league while at Chicago. Yes they were stars for their former teams. They were highly sought after FA's.

the pats deserve credit for what they've acheived in the past few years... but that was then and this is now. we were basically a single play away from sweeping them and taking the division. We majorly upgraded the most important position in the game, have improved overall and nobody plays the pats like Miami does. They know we're breathing down their necks and we want it a little more. The time is now.

Actually we always beat them at least once a year even during a 4-12 year. We have been close to them for many years IMO and if we could have played others the way we always do the pats we would have been a top team. The pats have never scared me and if we figure out our other opponents the way we have their number we will get the hardware.

Analysists are going to ride the Patriot wave until it crashes. They can say every year that they are going to be the winners of the AFC East, just as soon as somebody unseats them from that position they will jump right on that wave and ride it.

ain't it the truth? The year the Pats won that 1st SB, everyone was certain the Rams were going to blow them out. All the media could talk about was the Rams and their high powered offense. Now all you read is the Pats.
