MIAMI GARDENS -- The future of Dolphins General Manager Randy Mueller with the franchise should become clearer later today after a meeting with team owner H. Wayne Huizenga.

Appearing at Super Bowl XLI "media day" at Dolphin Stadium, Huizenga said he was later heading to the team's Davie headquarters to get an update on Mueller's status. It's believed Mueller has declined to close a loophole in his contract that allows him to speak with other teams because he is seeking an extension to his current deal, which runs through June 2008.

This is pretty stupid if it's the case. I mean does Huizenga seriously expect him to just sign a new contract devoid of the opportunity to seek other employment without any added incentive? If you want the man to be here, and want to remove his ability to seek other employment then give the man an extension. Sheesh what happened to the "I don't care what it costs, I just want to win" speech?

This should have been a done deal already. Damn...take care of the damn contract Wayne if you don't want him to go anywhere.....

Remember the..." will do whatever it takes to win" crap......put up or shut up!!!!

Seriously think about it, first we hire our DC, then we hire our HC, and now we are trying to lock in our GM. This is just totally *** backwards. Our FO needs to get their act togethor.

He tried to take care of it - Randy declined :(

EDIT

Misread the initial post. Sorry bout that.

This is ridiculous! Our owner isn't even sure our GM will be back after granting him the keys to the franchise.

We are becoming a laughingstock.

My guess is that this is all just a bit of drama as Randy works to get a better contract. I'd be very surprised if he's not our GM in April.

Starting to seem that way huh. This needs to be resolved as soon as possible so he can work with Cam on the upcoming draft. They will need to work together and get the prospects right without having to get another GM in here and redo what needs to be done. Then I am sure the threads will start after the draft about how we should have had a better GM so our picks would have been better...blah blah blah....

Wayne....GET THIS FIXED!!!!

Randy should have had no choice to look elsewhere should the deal have been right. Time will tell....

It is getting sickening. I keep hating the "It isn't about the money" crap. This is in fact about the money and if Wayne wants to build a solid franchise he needs to fork the money over to Mueller. This is a business, not a fun game in the park. If you want to win, you have to pay for it.

floyd reese or bill parcells come on down to south beach baby!

I agree. If it wasn't the money...then why look! It's always about the money. If I won 17 million in the lottery...do you really think I would tell them....no thanks...I want to try again to get a bigger jackpot?!?!?!? No...if the money is right, he would have taken it...plain and simple!!!!

That is just my opinion tho.

What makes you so sure that it is about money. Mueller has a legit GM spot. His contract is very good!

tell me inquiring minds want to know?
