On coach Cam Cameron and the draft: "Our new coach is a great guy ... He’s got the right approach to what he’s doing. On the draft, some people didn’t like the way he handled the draft. I give him 99 percent. He told me on Wednesday [before the draft] what he was going to do and he got 9 out of 10 out of his guys. And the one guy he missed it, he missed by one, the team just before us took his one guy. He got 9 out of 10 guys. So to me, when a guy lays out his plan, you may not like his plan, but I give he and [GM] Randy [Mueller] all the credit in the world."

If this is true, the guy they wanted and missed out on is one of the following:

DE Jamaal Anderson (Highly unlikely)
OG Justin Blalock (Highly unlikely since they were trying to trade up to get Beck)
C Ryan Kalil (Very possible since we took another center right after him)
OT Ryan Harris (A possibility)
RB Antonio Pittman (Highly unlikely since Booker was chosen in round 3)
DE Justin Rogers (A possibility)
C Doug Datish (Very possible since we took another center right after him)
LB Zach Diles (Very possible since we took another linebacker right after him)
S Michael Johnson (A possibility, but Miami I think targeted Fields all along)
CB Alan Ball (A possibility)

Before looking at your list, first thing popped in my mind was Ryan Kalil. Has to be. I thought he was ours, went to go get pizza, and was like damn one more pick. I think Satele is a great consolation price though.

It was Doug Datish. I could swear to you right now it was Doug Datish. It could have been Ryan Kalil...but I don't think he would have PLANNED for Ryan Kalil to fall as far as he did.

It was Doug Datish.

And that makes me even more confident in Randy Mueller.

I think he was referring to Ryan Kalil because he is the one person I thought they would take at that spot.

I think this goes to show us that Cam has a plan for this team and has not waivered in his steps to get who he wants, where he wants them. We may or may not have agreed with all the decisions but, he has stuck with it, and time will tell. I am personally very very excited and optimistic about the upcoming season.

Kalil i think... however we do covet samoans so maybe Satele was our target. Datish, Mormino >?? I'm know nothing of them only that one is a phin. but yeah thanks for the heads up..... you could tell, especially with the 1st 2 picks that they got exactly who they were going for.

I'm suprised Mueller didn't get the props, i know Cam had ALOT to do with the decisions, especially the 1st Four, but the GM ran the draft............. RIGHT ??? :D

Aha I didn't take Kalil falling into account. Very true. Nobody thought he would fall that far, and when we almost got him I was so excited but yea. That lends credence to some arguments that they were targeting Satele (but of course, they probably think after picking Beck with their first 2nd rounder, he wouldn't be around for the second 2nd rounder).

ckp, why does that make you more confident in Mueller? Did you really like Datish and the fact that Mueller did also but just couldn't get him makes his scouting a tiny bit better?

It Wasn't Kalil. He doesn't fit our blocking system philosophy........ plus kalil fell, who would have thought he would have been available then.....

Yeah, I think is Datish too. On most mock drafts Kalil was a late 1st rounder early 2nd, I can't remember a mock draft with Kalil lasting until the late 2nd

So you think we were targeting him and then took Drew Mormino instead?

if i might say, Wayne saying we got 9/10 targets makes me more confident in mueller, and i'm already one of his biggest supporters.

Kalil, but i like he got 9 out of 10. Lets jus hope they all pan out!

I thought this right off the bat too but here is something that goes against that theory....

The samoan family ties thing and he has similar talent.
