Hurricane Matthew is going to bear down on the east coast of Florida starting tomorrow as a potentially catastrophic storm. While it should spare Miami of the worst and football games are likely to be played this weekend at the Hard Rock, many South and Central Floridians are facing, perhaps, the storm of their lifetimes.

I wish all my Finheaven brethren in the path of this storm the best of luck.

I'll likely need someone to do the Game Thread for me this weekend - I don't expect to have power here in Port Saint Lucie for a while.

EDIT (Friday morning): It's all good for me, friends, the storm largely spared my part of Port Saint Lucie. I still have electricity, so I'll do the game thread this weekend.

Good luck Florida people....

I heard it could loop and hit twice, has that ever happened before?

Yup its been awhile since I've been through one. Already stocked up and fueled up till Monday. Hopefully we wont get too much damage here in the central part of the state

Good luck and stay safe!

Everyone take this storm serious please! Don't try and macho man this storm out.

I saw that loop first thing this morning and I said surely this is a sick joke? Looks like that loop would bring it straight to our location.

I can't see how certain parts of Florida aren't going to suffer major damage.

I heard it on the radio, I didn't even know they could do that. Did they say how long they expect for it to hit the second time? Is it all out evacuation or are a lot of people just staying put?

Its hard to imagine anywhere having the infrastructure to hold up twice. I dunno much about that stuff though.

We're right by Disney World and we're not going anywhere but then again the storm is not supposed to come to us. Not the eye anyway and if it does, it should weaken before it gets to us. The one thing I do watch for is the chance of a tornado to hit. For that we'd be in trouble as there are no basements in florida. I do know people that live in Daytona and Port Orange so I'm praying for them

The second time is unusual but not unheard of, its too far off to get good module runs that far out so will have to wait till next week.

If your near or on the coast I would be smart and evacuate. We're not that close so staying put. Of course this year we replaced the roof and literally just painted the house. We have shutters so hoping for the best.

The tornados are the real problem like in Andrew, you would see some houses on block fine and others destroyed. Think that was from the tornados.

We'll on the hopefull side of things between living on both the southeast and Southwest coastal areas of Florida these past 55 years I have most of these storms/ hurricanes to generally end up being overblown news headlines. So let's hope that this one is just another one on the list. Just in case though fill up your bathtub with freshwater and make you have plenty of dry matches for your candles!
