It's a shame we have owners that accept mediocrity year in and year out!
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...ommentary-1228-20141227-column.html?track=rssWell, here it is. The worst day of the football year. The last day of another lost season. It's Dolphins versus Jets with nothing on the line, and then, as the locker rooms empty, nothing at all. Darkness. For months.
I once stumbled into Don Shula's office the day after a lost season ended. It was rare for him, but even he had a few hollow years in the late 1980s. He sat behind his desk, leaning back in his chair in the manner he always did.
"What you do now is think what you've got to do next,'' he said. "There's no worse feeling in the world watching teams you hoped to beat still going in the playoffs."
There's one worse feeling. There's the feeling of having that feeling year after year after year after year after – how many is that? – year after year. It's six years out of the playoffs for the Dolphins. It's 14 years since their last playoff win.
