It's a shame we have owners that accept mediocrity year in and year out!

Well, here it is. The worst day of the football year. The last day of another lost season. It's Dolphins versus Jets with nothing on the line, and then, as the locker rooms empty, nothing at all. Darkness. For months.

I once stumbled into Don Shula's office the day after a lost season ended. It was rare for him, but even he had a few hollow years in the late 1980s. He sat behind his desk, leaning back in his chair in the manner he always did.
"What you do now is think what you've got to do next,'' he said. "There's no worse feeling in the world watching teams you hoped to beat still going in the playoffs."
There's one worse feeling. There's the feeling of having that feeling year after year after year after year after – how many is that? – year after year. It's six years out of the playoffs for the Dolphins. It's 14 years since their last playoff win.

The season is really lost if they lose tomorrow and go 8-8 and finish dropping one to the Jets.

Go 9-7 and have the first winning season since 2008. Yes, it is not a record good enough to get into the playoffs. Yes, the team sucked two straight years with the playoffs on the line. However, winning more than you lose is an accomplishment in some respects.

But we're keeping the same coach cause Ross doesn't want to mess with continuity.....so we can look forward to more of the same....we're so lucky.

As disappointing as it is I think we are closer now that we ever were. I mean we now know we have a legit QB. We are just one more of everything away from being top notch- one more RB; OG;OT;WR TE. Maybe one more LB;CB and DT too. I love here this team is heading though-the future i bright. Also Philbin will be a year wiser, lol!

Nuff Respect, really .

As much as it sucks that the season ends tomorrow, I think it has been obvious since at least pre-season that it was going to take at least one more year to undo the damage of Jeff Ireland.

Huge off-season coming up. If Dennis Hickey does well, this team will be primed for success for years. If Dennis Hickey screws the pooch, it's going to be 8-8 / 9-7 type ball for a while.

I want to believe that we're going in the right direction. I believe in our QB but not in our HC, not at this point. The defense regressed this year. We still don't know about the oline for next year. We don't have a real #1WR nor a real TE. There's no real playmakers at LB or the secondary. It's hard for me to think we're moving in the right direction other than Tannehill, Landry and Miller. Other than those 3 and James as a RT, can you guys tell me why I should think we're moving in the right direction?

I think Wallace is a good piece, whether he's a deep threat or plays more of a role that he did this year. He's been a good player. There's some young players on the defense that are worth keeping around. Jones, Jenkins, etc.

I really hope Tannehill has a stellar day against a tough defense. It'd be nice to finish 9-7 for the first time in years, and to see our young qb continue to progress. Hopefully they'll take it up another notch after a second year in Lazors offense.

RT is the most important piece and running his 2nd year in this offense should help. Now the defense needs to be fixed and interior OL and we should be in business now throw in a red zone threat and things could get interesting. Now that being said going west coast offense and going small and quick on defense you have to be run over in the game which is exactly what happened and what needs to be fixed and reviewed this offseason.

personally, whether you are a fan of joe philbin or not, anyone who is down on next season (and the future in general) because of him is putting way too much emphasis on the impact of the head coach. if you have an owner that has billions of dollars and willing to spend, an astute general manager, a good offensive coordinator, a good defensive coordinator, good position coaches, etc., you should be able to win in spite of the head coach.

do i want vince lombardi reincarnated or a 40 year old don shula back? of course. that's not happening. but if you think this team, with an improved roster, is destined for mediocrity solely because joe philbin is head coach, i'd have to disagree with your assessment.

I actually think a lot rides on tomorrow and I know I will be tuned in. I want to see Tannehill finish strong. If he comes out and lays an egg at home in a meaningless game against a bad team, I will have a bad taste in my mouth the entire offseason. Would love to see him reach 4k and 30tds. Maybe connect on something over 25 yards in the air. Also want to see some youngsters (McCain, Jamar T, D Will, Jordan, even Tripp and Turner) play and play well.

For better or worse...Fins Up.

Tomorrow I'll be rooting for the win. If we do win though come draft day I'll be dreaming what could have been if we'd just had the (slightly) better draft position (and the Jets were slightly worse).
