1. Why did the Dolphins make this trade with Houston? The draft capital was insane. "Elite" left tackles aren't as useful in today's NFL. The Patriots never paid big money for Olineman and Flores knows that. And if the plan is to get Tua, then you need a good RT, not LT.
2. Who’s next to go? Not sure any more big names or cuts happen this season, but guys like Reshad Jones are going to be gone immediately next year.
3. Did the Dolphins get value for their trades? Tunsil? They got more than what he was worth. Kiko? They obviously didn't, but it was salary cap room and his request that forced that trade. Stills was going to be cut or traded for at most a 5th rounder apparently if he didn't go to Houston, so I'm not really factoring that in.
4. Will the Dolphins lose every game? No. They might, but they'll probably get a game or two from Fitzmagic. Anyone who thinks this team is creeping up to a 6 win season are completely dreaming.
5. Drafting the right quarterback with the top pick. Tua, not even close. Not Herbert. Not Fromm. Not Love. Not Lawrence in 2021. Tua. He's the best prospect of them all imo.
6. When can the Dolphins be realistically good again? Depends on what "good" means. Are we competitive week in and week out? Literally as soon as next season if we land Tua and use our capital wisely by fortifying both lines. Won't legitimately challenge for a playoff spot until the following year though. Too much youth and we won't spend all our cap space in one offseason.
7. If you’re Steve Ross, what are you thinking? He knows what the plan is.
8. Is Chris Grier good enough to do this? Alone? I'd be weary, but with Allen and McKenzie, I think we have some real good guys to do this.
9. Is anyone the better for this? Not in 2019, that's for sure, but in 2020 people are going to be reeeeeeeeeeeeal hype.
10. Should fans embrace the tanking? If they want to get off the mediocrity treadmill, absolutely. All the other make believe stuff like culture is all sports buzzword nonsense. Fans complained for YEARS that the Dolphins didn't invest as much as they should into the quarterback position when we were using second rounders on the position. So we ruin the SuckForLuck season because "tanking is bad" and end up with Tannehill who wasted 7 years of this franchise. So now, we're investing everything we possibly can into fixing that position and for some reason some fans are against it. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The goal is to win the SUPER BOWL, not squeak into the playoffs. This team did not have the talent to challenge for a Super Bowl berth, everybody knows this, so we started over to collect young talent in an era where the Patriots still reign supreme. We're giving ourselves a legitimate shot to emerge from that dynasty once Brady is gone as the Kings of the AFC East. Will it work? No guarantees, but you gotta go with the correct strategy even if it doesn't work out.
