Hell No!! They can still draft Duke Johnson, Ameer Abdullah, or that cat from Indiana. There are good running backs available without as much mileage.

Exactly. I know the cap can be "manipulated" but I think we may have hit our manipulation quota for this year already. Were talking about a guy with a 13 millon dollar price tag. As much as Id love him on the team, and I would even trade this 2nd for him, I dont see how its possible.
 
Sorry, I have enough problems drafting a Guard in the first round or even 2, unless you are talking elite level player. And there are NO elite level guards left in this draft vs. our need for ILB, CB or even RB. There is still a pretty good guard up in Philly just sitting there waiting for someone to take him (or be cut) and we are talking about forgetting that and using a second on a position that will be easier to find than our other talent spots of need. I'm just plain ignoring the Peterson "grasping for straws" comment. MN isn't going to trade him for a second when they turned down reported better offers for another team or two. Not to mention the contract $$ would be hard to fit in our cap.
 
There will be solid veteran Guards cut between now and the final cut day due to salary, age or to make roster room for a younger replacement. Mathis is likely to be one of them.
I know there is a little impatience after seeing what the Jets and Bills defenses have done, but this FO needs to stick to their plan and not panic.

Yeah let's give up a 2nd for an aging RB who hasn't played in hardly a year when we have about 11 other needs to fill. Nope.
