Over the past week I have heard former player after former player come out the woodwork to criticize the Dolphins. On Mike and Mike, Mark Schlereth criticized the Dolphins and the coaching staff and leadership about handling of the team and in general policing it. He made numerous references about these type of thing were not allowed in his teams locker rooms. I started to think about it. He (Schlereth) spent 5 seasons with one of the all time scumbags, Bill Romanowski who would of lined up from him on a daily basis in practice. Romanowski was know for dealing and using steriods and such classy things as breaking a teammates Markus Williams eyesocket and ending his carrier in a fight during a scrimage (that wouldn't be bulling Mark?

If possable I would like to see this being a sticky and anyone tagging on these hypocritical examples we are being flooding with by these holier than thou former players.

Feel free to add examples

Mark Schlereth has been a consistent big mouth before all the facts are out,he is slowly stepping back but not much.

Michael Irvin telling a tale of handling a teammates anger. Of course Irvin didn't tell us about when he stabbed a teammate in the neck with scissors for taking his turn ahead of Irvin on the teams barber seat.

That had to top it all. And on the same panel Deion Sanders lauded his leadership. Hilarious.

Deion Sanders once sprayed champagne in some baseball commentator's face in a locker room for having said that Deion was disrespecting the game by playing in an NFL game in the afternoon and then driving over to a baseball playoff game in the evening.

Sapp didn't have to put in his 2 cents.I'm sure he's done much worse in the scrum.

This wasnt on this subject but last night I was watching "Run Ricky Run" again and its so funny to see Jay Mariotti call a Ricky "a disgrace to humanity". All these guys on their high horses need to watch their words carefully cause all this grandstanding can come back to bite you in your dumb ass

The ESPN commentators appear to have been told to talk about the Dolphin issue because it is a media event that can get ratings. In the same way they shamelessly couldn't stop running Tebow stories in the past, we now have a steady diet of Martin victimization/Incognito vilification. As a story it has drama, violence, emotion even the sex (with Cogs leading the O-line team meetings at the strip club and his bitch (Jonathan) being blackmailed for the Vegas trip. Richie has become the current lovable bad boy who knew how to give tough love. Sort of like the NFL's version of Tony Soprano only with bigger head and neck and better tattoos.
Mark Schlereth seems a good guy but he is just following his director's message, as is Skip Bayless, Stephen A Smith, Chris Berman, Tom Jackson, Mike and MIKE and every one of their other talking heads.

Good post and this thread was needed. I was thinking of starting a thread like this Thursday.

We need to keep a record of these ex players and coaches who are full of **** on this issue. Schlereth is a great example there.

For these guys to pretend like similar or worse stuff didnt take place in their locker room is a bold faced LIE! Its hypocritical BS. These guys are towing the PC line and are true cowards. They dont want to admit to the public what really goes on. Honestly, I dont know why either.

In Sapp's case I know why. He works for NFLN and wants to make sure he tows the company line. He owes so much child support he cant afford to lose his job. So he has to conveniently forgot about how he did much worse things to Chidi Ahanatu and how it ended when C.A challenged him to a fight right in front of everyone in the locker room. Sapp is full of ****.

At the same time we should be keeping track of the players or coaches who have stepped up and got real. Charles Woodson was interviewed the other day and told the stone cold truth. Props to him.

Its so disgusting that there are so few of these guys holding mics anymore that will tell you the truth. All while they work along side scumbags like Ray Lewis.

Face it, if all these ex players would come out and say this crap goes on all the time in every locker room there would be an even bigger shtstorm. They are "protecting the shield" and unlike Martin, they are keeping it "in house" There was hardly a peep on around the horn last night, and on PTI, the only thing that was mentioned about it was the fact that Martin needed to come forward and say SOMETHING.

BTW.....can these folks at least pronounce the name correctly....so sick of hearing about Jonathan MAR-EN...you are on camera, not shootin the shat with your friends in a bar.

Colin Cowherd was brought the attention of Aarron Hernandez while he boasted about how could the Miami Dolphins not have a handle on what was happening and Bill Belichick does not allow this to happen (he cut Hernandez as soon as it became national attention). He then said it was because it was off the field and nothing else matters here. Incognito did much of his VM, texts, ect. ect. off the field. The meetings at strip clubs, off the field.

So No one knew about Hernandez and his secret life outside of football? Do we dare ask that question to the Great one? I think not.

You know I'm not so sure it will come back on them. If so by who? Us and a message board? Who cares about that in the big picture. This is the exact same problem with politics and political media, nobody is held responsible for accuracy in the media anymore. It's a 24/7 ratings grab and damn the consequences because those portraying the "wrong" news will always be the ones with the mic.

What bothers me is that do these guys not realize they are treading on changing the game for good and in a bad way? Just like all the new contact rules. There will be a point when football no longer fills a satisfaction for us and we turn off the TV or stop going to the games. Now they are just feeding to those that don't support them anyway. How many real, hardcore football fans do you know that side with Martin and not think he is just a sleaze bag? You can only rub your fans the wrong way and alter the product so much before the whole thing comes back and bites you on the ass.

If they were smart people capable of a reasonable amount of foresight and thought, they would not be sports journalists.

I so laughed my head off when some espn jerks were talking about the locker room defending Cogs. They were saying that Cogs was so powerful that he actually bullied the entire locker room and had them under his bully spell. They actually, seriously believed that!!
