Ok heres a good question while i am thinking about the Future of Miami. Ricky's contract is up and he and Ronnie had a 2000 rushing yards combined, Do you resign him. Think about it...this problem could happen to us soon. youre in Saban's shoes....

Hell be 30 no you don't and he'll probably retire anyway.

If you're going to ask a "good" question, ask it correctly, please. The term is re-sign, not resign. And they will probably sign him at the vet minimimum to a one year contract, unless Coach Saban believes he's worth more.

Hmmmm.....good question...unless he fetches a good trade or allows us to trade down in the draft, then no...

IF he isn't traded this offseason, his contract will be renegotiated and he'll get some incentives. The problem with incentives is that he'll be splitting carries with Brown anyways...renegotiating his contract does two things....

Secures him to us for longer and of course, it'll be one of those cap friendly ones and shows both potential FAs and the players here that the organization will take chances on questionable situations and operate in good faith...which will help us/Saban in future negotiations with other players.

Just MHO...

DEpends on what Rickys wants i guess. if he wants bank, Saban will just say bye. If he continues to play 30 hours in a forty hour work week, and he gets paid as such, then he likely would be re-signed. But for that 2000 yard thing to happen, that would mean the system is working and I dont think you want to mess with that.

Personally I would see if I could move up in the draft and deal him in order to get a good QB. If I wasnt able to do that, then I would re-sign him to a 1yr league min. contract, but not before listening to trade offers.

Ricky and a third to Houston for Carr... That gives us our QB and Houston a franchise back and the ability to pick either Vince Young (if he declairs) or leinart

That's my hypothetical situation.

Think Edgarrin and Alexander. Franchise his ***, and trade him. If no one wants him you've got him around for another year. If you feel he is not performing vs. franchise money, the franchise tag allows you to easily release him.

ricky will retire when hes 32, he wont cost us much money, yes by then his contract will be higher but not much, he'll finnish with about 9 thousand career rushing yards and that will be it, ronnie will be here for a very long time and have some excellent seasons maybe sprnkled with a down season or 2....thats how i think it will play out

people sure are dumb.

they have davis and morency who did pretty good in the last game of the year.

do people really know what other teams have and what their problems are?

He carried them during their six game winning streak and you want to get rid of him? Yea lets get a 3rd or 4th rounder?

And if they are gonna take Reggie Bush, don't you think they are going for a franchise back? Or all we all dumb and only think Reggie is a return man?

Oh my god. :sidelol: Did you seriously just say FRANCHISE Ricky Williams? Dude is playing for $540K right now, and says that is more than enough money! Why not pay him $6M or whatever the Franchise tag is for a running back (a back who would be 30, and maybe still splitting carries.)

Not even Spielman would trade a pick for Ricky at that age. Edge and Alexander couldn't even get a 2ND ROUNDER!

i think davis the franchise back considering they have him a 21 million dollar extension.

they also have a good back up with morency.

plus they have a good QB in carr and good WR in andre johnson.

main problem is carr doesn't have enough time to throw cause his OLINE is terrible.

if they were smart, they would move down to get an olineman and get some more picks.

plus i think lendale white will be a better NFL back than reggie.
