Gus did so well im still in shock. In his 1st year with a hole new team he went 9-7, wow, i mean Daunte had the same team around him except for moss, for the games he was in and he was terrible and i could say the same things about other QB's. And yes i watched every game our the recievers did have the dropsy's, im just so stunned he did that good in our new Dolphins orginization, i think the only thing the same is the owner. Yes i know all you Gus haters are gonna talk so much trash lol But the truth is Gus did outstanding. I just hope he's our QB in 06

dont completly dissagree with you. getting daunte would be a bad idea.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he was "outstanding" by any stretch, but he played well enough to earn the chance to keep the job. He was in a system that he had a couple of years experience in, so he SHOULD have done better than the rest of the team.

I am not a Gus basher, and I believe he did (and would continue to do) a great job as caretaker, but I don't think he is the guy to get us to the next level.

Gus was far from "outstanding"...He was solid,I think he can get us to the playoffs, but his accuracy will always be a problem and won't get better but he can win games.I'd like to keep him in a dolphins uniform but not as the #1
QB.He would be (I don't wanna say great) a very good backup, because he knows the system, players, and the players and coaches know him and have confidence in him and he has won games for us!

Outstanding??? Wow. You must think Reggie Howard is MVP.

Here are ELEVEN games from Mr. Frerotte last year.

20-43 for 177 yds. 46.5% comp! 1 td, 1 int. 56.1 rating.

14-33 for 171 yds. 42.4% comp! 2 tds, 1 int, 66.6 rating (satan!)

21-33 for 226 yds. 63.6% comp. 2 tds, 3 ints. 66.0 rating.

21-43 for 267 yds. 48.8% comp. 0 tds, 0 ints.. 68.7 rating.

11-29 for 125 yds. 37.9% comp! 0 tds, 1 int.. 37.3 rating. Ouch.

16-28 for 168 yds. 57.1% comp. 1 td, 1 int. 71.7 rating.

13-22 for 103 yds. 59.1% comp. 0 tds, 1 int. 51.9 rating.

(as a brief aside, those seven games were in a row… it is any surprise we lost six of them and tanked our season?)

4-18 for 58 yds. 22.2% comp. 0tds, 0 ints.. 39.6 rating.

12-28 for 115 yds. 42.9% comp. 0 tds, 0 ints, 54.9 rating.

8 for 16 for 76 yards. 50% comp. 1 td, 1 int. 58.3 rating.

14-30 for 151 yds. 46.7% comp. 2 tds, 1 int.. 70.3 rating.

That is eleven bad games. Seriously, take a minute and look at those game lines.

Eleven games taht bad out of 16 isn’t acceptable from anyone in any position. Least of all QB.

No matter how you look at it this team is worse with Gus than it would be with any average quarterback.

Outstanding? He was one of the six worst quarterbacks in football. How is that outstanding?

Yeah that's why everyone who actually earns a paycheck from the game of football says we have to get a QB (sABAN, Ty Law, etc..)

outstanding wow!!! he was horrible most of the recievers catches were great catches! I would def say one of the worst three qbs in the league!

J.P Loseman, Kyle Boller, Joey Harrington, Tommy Maddox, and Alex Smith are all worse than Gus. And those were just the ones off the top of my head. I think Gus was a major upgrade from the :ears:Fiedler / Feely :googly: days. I have confidence that if Gus is our starter in 2006 that he could lead us to the playoffs. My only concern is how he will perform with a new OC. That being said, I would actually like to see us upgrade the position, either through free agency or the draft. Gus is not bad, but I believe that we can get a better QB. If we draft someone though I believe Gus would be the starter.

I think his accuracy thing is a bit much. Your judging his accuracy on Saban wanting him to throw the ball away if nothing is there and taking over a completely new offense regardless of whether he knew it or not. 10 other guys on the offense were sucking from time to time as well.

The ultimate in what everyone should want is for Gus to start the season and we land a rookie QB who picks everything up and is able to come right in and make a splash. Then your set for the next ten years at QB and you dont have to go through this rumour crap that TY Law starts all on his own.

Gus was not outstanding by any stretch of the imagination. We could have done worse at QB and we definetly could have done better. I respect what he has done for us and don't doubt that he would do better if we should have to use him for one more season. But we have to get a more consistent, more accurate QB. Gus can make every throw he needs to make, he has a strong arm. His problem is that he is very streaky. He'll complete 10 passes in a row then go 3 for his next 18. IF Gus was more accurate CONSISTENTLY, then folks wouldn't really have anything to complain about. All of the other things that look bad against him are basically as a result of his completion %. For example, if he had completed bewtween 58 -60% of his passes, he'd have pushed for 4000 yards and several more TDs. And because of his terrible comp% his YPA fell like a rock and his overall QB rating looks below average. If he can pick up his completions, he would be a solid QB.

Agree with what most people are saying good or bad. It cracks me up when folks discount all of the changes Gus withstood with this team then turn around anf say, "you can't count 2005 for Culpepper. Does that seem fair???

Another poster only seeing thru aqua colored glasses...There have been numerous threads talking about how well Gus actually did. Statistically he did very poorly (27th or 28th in the league)...What is not bourne out in those stats is the inaccurate throws that missed the targets OR the inacurrate throws that, even tho caught, caused the recievers to not get opportunities for YACs since they had to alter routes, change shoulders, contort their bodies just to make the catches...This weakness NEVER improved as the season went on...

However, that is not to say that he wasn't better than some of the other options we've had here before. He is a better leader and of the team than Ears was and is certainly better than AJ showed. Please don't get caught up in the fact that Gus did a good job of not giving the ball away and throwing pick-6's...that doesn't make him 'outstanding', just average or slightly below that....

I have to dissagree with you on the accuracy aspect of our offense. In this particular system, accuracy is paramount. The offense is predicated on a couple of things, one of them is YACs. If the recievers can't get the yacs, then this offense won't work at its optimum. Even though we won the last 6 games (2 of which were due to Sage's heroics, not Gus'), we certainly didn't set the world on fire offensively...and we should have lost the NE game since we nearly did anyways with their 2nd and 3rd stringers playing most of the game...
