If the Dolphins sign Peyton Manning, the Dolphins first game of the season will be at the Colts on Sunday Night Football. The ratings would be huge for that one. Plus it would be Luck's first game as a pro and two new head coaches going head to head.

I would love to see our defense give Mr. Luck a rude welcoming to the NFL.

I think Peytons first game with whomever he signs with will be vs. Eli's Giants on the Wednesday night season kickoff in NY. Giants have already been chosen but they haven't announced the other team. Think their waiting to see where Peyton signs. So Miami's first game could be on the road. Game 2 could be vs. Colts.

The Dolphins don't play the Giants this year so that can't happen if Manning signs here. They play at the Colts though.

If Peyton does sign here, my guess would be that late NFL Network game on Thanksgiving or maybe a few weeks after opening week. Opening week has enough hype by itself so i doubt they would want to waste the marketing power of this game in the first week. The only issue with waiting for Thanksgiving is the colts might have a terrible record at that point and the game may lose some of its luster. I say they hand the colts a few less talented opponents the first few weeks so their record is something like 2-1 or 2-2 and then have Peyton return to Indy. They could hype that up for the whole week and it will produce giant ratings for sunday/monday night football. I know it's apples and oranges, but maybe something similar to when Lebron returned to Cleveland. The NBA let it simmer for a little over a month, but they didn't wait too long since they probably knew Cleveland was going to belly up eventually during the season.
