The aftermath of this past Thursday night beat-down of the Bills...and the team stats produced this season by the Dolphins have me pretty excited.

Still, playing the next game against the Broncos on paper have us losing...but should we win against that team in their stadium, then we can believe that this team is legit. Keeping the game close in a losing effort would prove that, too.

Our 1-2 start is a distant memory.

Even though Philben is a weird kind of coach, Tanny is still improving and our D has let two games slip into the loss column...Miami finds itself placed perfectly for a playoff run.

IMO, it's the offense that was to blame. The offense did practically nothing in the first half of those two games, while the defense limited the opponents' scoring. Since the offense didn't "go to work" until the second half, the least they could have done was to sustain their last drive to run out the clock for the win. This is the main problem with the team that must be overcome if they want to make the playoffs; the offense starts out extremely slow and sluggish against a quality opponent, then plays well until the final minutes when they "forget" how to get a 1st down for the win.

+1

We get those first downs and you can take 150 yards off our defensive yards allowed. That puts us at #1 in front of Detroit.
O & D have to work together.
But anytime you give a team 2 chances late it the game on offense you can expect to lose most of the time. Doesn't really matter what defense you have.

If that's your train of thought then you still have to blame both. Offense didn't do their job at the beginning and defense didn't do their job in the end... both should be doing their job for the whole game. There's no denying that the defense failed on both occasions in crunch time. It doesn't matter if they made a bunch of stops or were tired because of this or that, they just had to find it in them to make one more stop or one more big play and they couldn't do it.

How about the offense getting a first down to end the game. The D had already made a stop in both games. Anytime you expect them to do it twice get ready to be let down.

How about they both do their job at the end of the game... in both games the offense scored to take the lead in the 4th quarter. Those were both very good defenses we lost to, in fact Detroit is #1 in defense. You can't expect the offense to keep coming up big vs a top defense and then make excuses for our defense when they fail in crunch time.

No one is to blame. Its a new offense silly people. Listen to RT and what he is saying. Its called progression.

The defense last year was nothing to write home about. This year a completely different story. And that was without Jordan and Jones for first four games. Without Misi for a good portion. LB's were bad until Jenkins came along nicely and now he is not the only guy expected to do something. Now, even with some injuries, we can survive with our depth.

And yes, Philbin deserves alot of credit for the stability. He did what needed to be done to get us here and now ready to go to next level. You cannot live in your revisionist history of bad management snafu's that really only happened a couple of times.

As Mike Wallace is saying, its not up to the coaches to perform on the field. Its the players.

There is nothing wrong with the way Philbin coaches. He is way underrated IMO on this board because of group think BS focusing on a couple of moments. That is silly crap. Its really juvenile.

Offense scored, defense made stop, offense failed, defense failed. Offense had chance to end it 1st both times. In fact the offense has failed to end the game 9 straight times in that same situation over the last 42 games. Defense bailed them out 4 times in that situation and won the game

The offense didn't make plays and first downs late that would have closed green bay & Detroit out......and the defense didn't stop the last drives either....so blame is everywhere.

Still, the last 7 games are very encouraging and certainly suggest this team is capable of making some noise.

Only one team has ever won all their games in a season...and even the vaunted Broncos have dropped a couple.

If we can get too Peyton and rattle his trigger we can win this game. We need to be effective with pressure and the ground game.

It also wouldn't hurt if this was the game RT & Wallace hooked up on a couple long ones.

I am Ok with philbin, you cannot argue with improvement of the team. That said, those two defensive TO's played a part in two losses. That is on Philbin. I hope he "progresses" as well.
