As I watch all the TV reports and hear all the views on who is right or wrong with this whole JT saga it came to me very simply. JT came out of Akron! Akron! Who in the hell has ever heard of a star football player from Akron? The dolphins have a LOT invested in JT to get him to where he is. They have paid him millions of dollars for the effort he has put forth to achieve the level he has. He owes the Dolphins the same level of commitment he was shown as an unknown out of Akron. He should have at least fulfilled his contractual obligation. Then he can dance off to Hollywood and do whatever he wants.

My allegiance is with the team and not any single player. That is part of the NFL's problem. Too many players beleive they are above the team. Why should the Dolphins just give JT away? They have a vested interest in him and deserve to be repaid.

And the last time I checked, JT is getting paid millions of $$$$ to play football. Therefore if he is NOT going to be in Davie at training camp etc. he needs to give the Dolphins their money back!!!! If any of us were to not show up for work at our jobs we'd be fired!!!!

I agree in part, but I dont see what him playing at Akron has to do with any of this.

You don't think that the Dolphins took a chance on a player from Akron? At least a bigger chance than say a player from a top school? Maybe a program that had a higher level of competition? It is easy to be a big fish in a little pond. Try being a big fish in a big pond.

All I'm sayin is why couldn't the guy have waited until after his football career is over? Is DWTS gonna be gone in 2 yrs or so? The fact that he DID NOT wait makes me question his commitment. Sure, he has given us a 100% over the past 6+ seasons, and for that I thank him. But if he's all about acting then let him go....his value is dropping every day that teams read about this BS

I don't think the OP is saying the players from no name schools can't acheive anything or be great. I think the OP was implying the Phins took a CHANCE on a guy from a no name school.

I am sure there was hype around other players who went to bigger schools but the Phins showed faith in taylor to draft him.

Don't think he was dissing Taylor or Akron by saying.

Just my opinion and how I took it though

You are exactly right. :hi5:

I think he's trying to get fired.

He is going to be fired; that is Miami is going to 'fire' fine after fine at him until he gets his head out of his behind and shows up for work. Retirement is the only way to get himself 'fired':D

No player is bigger or more important than the team.

If he doesn't want to play anymore...retire.

Otherwise, man up and fulfill your contract.

What you have to remember is, that he is still a relatively young man, he is seeing visions of stardom that probably won't come true for him.

If he was getting sage advice, he would finish his football career strong, get himself into the hall of fame, and then worry about getting the gimmick B-roles he'll get in Hollywood.

You can't name many football stars that went onto win Oscars, or even become big box office draws, it just doesn't happen. And frankly, from what I've seen of JT in a speaking capacity and in front of a Mic.....it ain't gonna happen for him.

Yeah Jerry Rice and Walter Payton played collegiately at no-name colleges and look what they did in the NFL.

The two guys you mentioned were two of the best ever who never did the off-season crap that JT is doing...can you imagine WP going hollywood...even JR gave everything he had then some more and retired then pursued other interests...JT is a spoiled brat...

Getting released is the NFL's version of getting fired. Not retirement. I'm just saying this because there are people on here who are trying to draw comparisons to regular workers and say JT's wrong and how they'd do it in the real world. And in reality, JT's doing the same thing any of us would do if we weren't happy with our job. Just in his case, he can't just say "I quit" and go somewhere he'd be happier. He's gotta be traded, released, or retire. He doesn't want to retire, so he's playing his other cards. If we were given the option to retire or work in a place we're not happy, and have options to force a trade or be fired, I'm sure we'd do the same thing. So some of you need to stop fooling yourselves.

But he's got opportunities now. With his DWTS run, his popularity has never been higher when it comes to the entertainment world. These opportunities, as ridiculous as you or anybody thinks they are, aren't going to stay around until his football career is over, so he's gotta take advantage of it now. And don't be ridiculous, pretty sure JT's not expecting to become a world-renowned actor, but the more exposure he gets, the better the chances he'll find a career in entertainment after.

just to be fair jt was drafted in the third round so its really not that big of a chance to be taken. In todays draft round 3 is a second day pick. ROund three isnt the supplemental draft but its still 2 rounds down its not like he was picked number one over all or anything. That being said he is still the best player onb the team and if hes just going to be a distraction then cut him loose.THis team has enough to worry about and we need to build for the future jt doesnt have many years left in him
