Sage got lucky. He threw into double coverage and Chambers made a phenomenal catch.

You dedicated a thread on the main page to let everyone know you changed your mind?

Over the weekend I had been saying Sage should start, but then I actually SAW the TD pass. It wasn't a "thing of beauty" let's leave it at that.

think about what the pass would have looked like if gus threw it!

It seemed Sage was staring down Chambers the whole way, and everything just fell into place.

I don't care. Sage would have been able to hit chambers on the out in the endzone - the same pass that Gus skipped. That was a gimme touchdown and we blew it. Not to mention all of the deep overthrows. Tally em up all year. I kept telling myself, it's okay, Gus just needs to get the timing down.

Enough is enough. It's time to see what Sage can do. I don't care if he gets the occasional interception that Gus wouldn't get. I'll take that along with the money throws that an NFL player HAS to make against good teams stacking up the line to stop your run. If you can't complete the basic plays, then let someone else in there who can.

Sage may not be the guy, but in a game where seven missed throws translate into potentially 21 points of offense, something's got to give. I'm not even looking at the fact that Sage comes in and tosses a 70 yard touchdown on his only pass. that's not the point here. The guy has been here for four years. He played the best of the QB's in preseason. We all know it, deep down. The reason we all went along with Gus is that he will manage the game effectively. Missing a short out for a touchdown is not managing the game effectively.

this is not a one game assessment either. Gus has been unable to hit the deep ball all year. He has been somewhat effective with the short pass, not that's gotten worse.

It's time for a change. What do we have to lose?

You go three and out enough times (because defenses are daring you to throw it) and your defense eventually wears down. We have a veteran defense and we're wasting them.

Take a look at Washington. They get their passing game going and viola, their running game takes off and their defense becomes much more effective. This is basic stuff.

Start Sage.

This was posted on another thread, but why do you think the pass being thrown inside away from the defenders was "luck"?? Did Sage say he never saw the coverage? Or did he lead the pass away from the coverage to give Chambers a chance to adjust to the ball on purpose?

If I was a Dolphin fan I would probably be wanting anyone but Gus as well. He missed a LOT of open receivers on Friday.

I don't understand why guys like Gus and Jay fiedler get a free pass when they play horribly.

We pile on the Oline whenever they screw up.

We pile on the players when they come out and make dumb penalties.

And yet when the "Game Manager" has two bad games in a row, it's not his fault.

Come on. I don't blame Gus for the three fumbles he's had the last two games. Or the interceptions he's had. I blam him for not being able to make the necessary throws he has to make to continue drives. We had 3rd and 1 i recall on the chiefs and Gus heaves it deep. Now I don't have a problem per say with the play call, but if you're giving up a solid chance at a first down to go deep, you better connect on that throw. Gus overthrew the guy and it wasn't even close. Three and out, our defense comes on the field again without rest and KC scores on us.

that's not winning football.

If we start Sage...we have given up on the season. Putting a qb in a game to see what he can do will not win you games, this team will bascially be "testing out" and that is a slap in the face to players like ZT and JT. Sage is a backup QB on a team with horrible QBs and some people want to put him in, this IMO is going from bad to worse. Saban coaches these guys, watch film on them, knows each one of there strenghts and weaknesses and still Sage sits on the bench. What does this tell you guys? If you want to continue to try to win games leave Gus where he is, if you have given up on the season, put Sage in there. By the way.....I think Gus absolutely sucks.

Hate to tell you but the opposite is true. Sage is not a rookie. He outplayed both QB's in preseason. After watching the KC game you have to be able to see the writing on the wall. What do you think EVERY SINGLE team left on our schedule is going to do?

i'll give you a hint: Stack the line, stop our only threat (Ronnie Brown) and double Randy McMichael, get our offense off the field and make our veteran D play most of the game.

You have to see that formula. It's not going to change unless Gus miraculously wakes up or we get another guy in there who can throw the ball accurately with consistency. I suppose it's a matter of opinion which you believe has a greater likelihood of happening. I'm betting Sage is the pick.

the fact is, had gus thrown the same pass it would have either been overthrown or intercepted. maybe sage has luck on his side, i dont care. ill take it.

Then why isn't he starting? I for one cannot believe that Saban would not start the best player at a particular position...this would be contrary to what I believe he is.... a tough fair minded coach. If Sage outplayed both QB's in preseason like you claimed I would be the first one to tell you to put him in there let us win some games. Not only because he would be the best QB on our team but it would be the right thing to do. Sage seems to like the position he is in right now, clean uniform holding a clip board. I guess that was a little un fair for me to say......frustration setting in I guess.

who cares what that ONE pass looked like? The idea is Gus should not be the starter anymore. Even if Sage didnt play in the chiefs game, he should be given a shot, based on how poorly Gus is playing.
