How didn't Phillip Rivers get a taunting call when He was laughing and pointing at McCain?? on that hold?

he was blatantly making the holding call, laughing and pointing at him.

I mean, isn't that the definition of taunting??

also,
Speaking of the refs....

Why weren't the refs and Phillip Rivers on the same page yesterday? Surely one of them didn't get the memo.

I mean, The refs would give them (yet another) first down off penalty and Rivers basically told them to F- Off and gave the ball right back.

It seemed like Rivers just wasn't having it. He seemed almost as disgusted with the Refs as most dolphins fans were

Those refs were bought and paid for. I've never seen an officiating job so one-sided.

Unfortunately, it will all get swept under the rug and no one will hear about it again.

As a side note, I think this is one area I want to see Gase improve. He has got to get in the refs ears more during the game.

It was a complete Vegas job IMO but even the refs couldn't hand them the game.

And Rivers has always been mouthy...he's argued with fans in the stands on the road before...always trash talking. Not sure why he didn't get the flag but I'm not a big fan of the taunting penalty anyway. Some players like to trash talk...we have a few on the Dolphins as well. That's part of their game so unless he's going over to the Dolphins sideline and instigating a fight with his trash talking I say let them play.

Good point, hadn't really thought about that but he damn sure was taunting. Rivers definitely has some Marino in him in the passionate way he plays the game. Fortunately for us these days it doesn't always work out so well.

You beat me to it. I've been waiting for someone to bring this up. How that wasn't taunting is beyond me. The guy is such a child.

The taunting call is very subjectively chosen. IMO they should get rid of it altogether.

I dunno, our CB's were holding an awful lot. they need to get better. I keep holding out hope that Culliver, Howard and even Benwikre will help. The Maxwell, McCain, Lippett combination scares me to death even with the 4 picks.

The game was very poorly officiated. Very, very poorly officiated.

I guarantee you Benwikre will not help this team. He was cut last week.

The calls weren't necessarily wrong, a bit ticky-tac at times, but they were legit. The problem was that they werent making the same calls against the Chargers. FFS, Cam Wake was wearing a San Diego Flesh Cape all day long, not a single flag.

Looking back at it today after the emotions settle some, I agree that our corners were guilty of alot of those calls, but how in the world do we not get the flag on Parker in the endzone? Even the announcers were expecting it.

Its like you said if your going to throw it on our corners...

For the record, I am NOT against taunting in sports.

in every sport I've ever played I can get pretty chatty, and I think it makes the game more fun(for the players).

my only issue with the call was how subjective it is. I agree with some others, I think it should be taken out anyway. I'm just saying that is one of the most blatant taunting calls I've seen, in front of everyone, and on TV and yet...nothing.

You just want to see consistency in how the game is called. The holding call on James negated a huge 3rd down conversion and could be called on half of Wake's rushes...every game. The Db was pretty handsy with Parker on the end zone throw before the tying FG. I don't mind the no call..if our dbs weren't getting called for the same level of contact.
