Every couple of days a few friends and myself have a football talk about teams, and who is good and who isnt. So far the Arizona Cardinals have impressed me, the Kansas City Chiefs (i thought) would be a great team this year, but seem to suck so far. Now onto my team, the Miami Dolphins...in the off-season, we acquired/signed so many really good players: (kevin carter, vonnie holliday, keith traylor, donnie spragan, lance schulters, frank middleton, ronnie brown, heath evans, stockar mcdougle, tebucky jones)...yet we arent winning. Can someone explain to me why we have all these real good players and STILL arent winning??? is it our coaching?? Is our defense looking better? I wouldve expected the right side of our O-line to look good with Middleton and McDougle. I wouldve expected our defensive line and linebacker unit to be rock solid with all the players we have.....but still nothing? Whats going on?? No matter how many threads i read, i just cant seem to understand why we are not winning? Or maybe if we stick our starters in for the whole game, we'll actually win...?

They are all new to a new system. Plus we havn't had a game plan yet, we will start doing so this week. We should look better this weekend (I HOPE!)

so do I!!

I think a lot of it is to do with systems... and components breaking down. We'll get there eventually, just need to put everything together. More than anything I think Nick will just try and establish a system this year.

first off, dont look at winning and losing the games, cause most of it is backups and future cut playres finishing them off....

in reality all that matters is first stringers against first stringers and we've actually done ok, our first string Defense has been great against jax and pittsburgh and im really excited about that... our offense has looked lackluster against first stringers, but i think with some gameplanning and really opening up the playbook once the season starts we'll look better...

First of all, our starters do not play a whole game during the preseason...But during last game, Big Ben was pressured all night and running for his life and the Steelers committed like 3 turnovers in 1 half which is very positive...

The problem right now if the offense, most notably, the offensive line...I don't think Coach Houck has found the right combination of guys yet.

Winning preseason games is not important but will help the coach evaluate his players...That's how we found out about Lorenzo Diamond and David Boston moving up the depth chart after some impressive games...

I agree, Saban said this would be the first week they gameplan, he called it a dry run!

Plus you saw the Madison interview, he seemed to say, without saying it (Saban like?) that they had a ton of things they were not using on Defense.

now we just need one QB to stand up and take the job!

This right here is what people just do not seem to get. How can you judge how good we are when we arent even planning for the game? Idiots i tell you! Idiots!

Saban is not trying to win a meanless preseason game.

Saban is trying to install his Offense, Defensive, Special teams, and evaluate his roster top to bottom.

Wins will come soon enough.

No end arounds, no misdirections, no ronnie brown yet, no gameplanning, no need to win preseason games. I think people just want to find a way to get Feeley in as starter. thats what all this fuss is about. Once Feeley gets his turn after all the gus boos, then reality will hit with a INT for a TD the other way and then what? OH, it was this guys fault, that guys fault, yadda yadda yadda. The script is already writting by a bunch of crybabies!

I would also like to see Madison, just once this preseason, not run past the running back, just once can he see the dam ball in the guys hands? Yikes!!!

Like everyone else is saying.....winning just doesn't matter in the preseason.

But also, you list all of these 'really good' players that we've gotten, but I think some are just great NAMES and not so great players....namely Vonnie Holliday and Tebucky Jones. And since when were Heath Evans and Donnie Spragan 'really good players'? I like what I've seen from Spragan thus far, but could you imagine the reaction from this board if a Bronco fan had come here last season, saying how great he was....he would have been crucified.

Bottom line, we are in transition and there is an adjustment period for players to learn the system, and for the coaches to find the right players for the system. You shouldn't make the mistake of thinking that all players who were brought in this offseason are necessarily part of the future of this team.

FYI Indianapolis is 0-3.....anyone think they will finish at the bottom of their division?

Donnie Spragan is sooo tall, i noticed the other day. And about our fullbacks, it seems like its a competition...do u think Heath Evans or Jamar Martin will win the fullback spot? It seems like Martin can block better, but Heath is an overall better fullback.

I like Martin better for his blocking.
