He was all hype created by the NE sports media much like rutgers the year before. As an FSU fan I can say we honestly don't want this guy. Put some pressure on him and he will throw a pick...just ask geno hayes. Let's give Beck a chance!!

Beck needs his chance, and this topic needs to disappear. Their have been like 200 threads on this Matt Ryan kid, and guess what... he isn't here. I would like to support the "give Beck a chance" thing but I'm tired of talking about it.

fine instead of give beck a chance, how about give a new poster a chance!:boohoo:

I still say Josh Johnson was/is the best QB in this draft. He would be a day 2 pick and has better skills and instincts than any of these QB's I've seen in this draft. I seen him once in a regular season game and seen him dominate while all those other QB's sucked up the feild in the All-Star game.

IM(not so)HO Ryan is a classic NE puss in boots and will be a huge bust in the NFL.

Personally I'd rather bring Joey Harrington back than draft that POS.

Forget Ryan lovers, what about the Beck lovers? Just because the guy is already here doesn't mean he will trun out to be a great player.

Maybe Beck will turn out, maybe he won't, but the fact remains that Beck was an average prospect not much different from Kolb/Edwards/Stanton whoever. Maybe on of these guys will turn out to be good (and Edwards has a pretty good head start).

Posters who are interested in Ryan or other prospects has nothing to do with liking/not liking Beck. It's wanting the best prospect we can find to compete for the job.

What makes Ryan the best prospect? I for one am completely mystified by his rise up the draft boards from mid round pick to contender for the top overall spot. He gets lauded for his "leadership" and "poise", mainly because he managed to put himself in situations where he needed late rallies to pull off the victory. One has to question whether he would be a lower rated prospect if he had a better season, and had less opportunities to display his great leadership.

I know people are desperately searching for the next Brady but just because a guy has an average arm, is calm under pressure, and has a few 4th quarter comebacks under his belt does not make him a hall of famer to be. Brohm appears to be the much safer pick, but apparently having a lousy defense is an indictment of a quarterback's abilities.

Yea, so why bring in a puss like Ryan who won't be able to "compete for the job?" No thanks to that one.

And just so you know, Beck wasn't rated an "average prospect" last year. In many circles he was rated as a 1st round talent --- and a guy with more game savy and real-world NFL chops than Quinn.

IMO you guys that want to invest another high pick in another QB are simply unwilling to give Beck the chance to prove his worth. Last year was a total JOKE as far as him starting on a retarded offense with virtually NO supporting cast.

thank you booker, you are 100% on the money!

Beck will be fine with a real line and real WRs.

I'm not unwilling to give Beck a chance, just saying that he is not the best QB prospect in the world.

Oh, and on what planet was Beck rated a first round talent? In Randy Mueller/Cam Cameron world, maybe. The fact is he was the 4th QB taken and no one would have batted an eye if we had taken Edwards or Stanton instead. And to say he was an equal prospect to Quinn is ludicrous. He may end up better than Quinn but at the time Quinn was a much higher rated prospect

I brought this up in another thread, but since this one is headed in the same direction I will bring it up again...

Now please correct me if I'm wrong, but from my experience with the Matt Ryan lovers they are for the most part all former C-Pep lovers whom are sore about how their man washed out and was canned.

No matter how you dice this y'all this is a Dolphin Family feud, because nobody can agree on a heir to the Miami throne... Marino was the greatest and nobody can agree on whom will be the new Marino... personally for me I will settle for now with another Woodley until he comes around.

just my 2 cents...

Matt Ryan is no longer relevant. We no longer have a top 15 pick. no point in talkign about him anymore.

Listen to Griese's recent interview. He had Beck as the #2 QB in last years draft. So, there's one. He also mentions that "this side of Ryan" Becks better than any of the QB's in this year's draft.
Miami also tried to trade up to get him last year, worried that he may not make it to 40. This is also documented.

Steve Young felt he'd be gone in the first round. And there were others I cannot cite.

It seems to me that most of the people who like Ryan are the people who didn't like Culpepper and were all about Green. The people who don't want to give a QB that didn't really get a fair shake a chance. The people that won't be happy with their QB no matter what.

Disclaimer - I still would like another option besides Beck and McCown, but not a high draft pick on some hyped up clown.
