While it will improve our defensive tackle, it will also cripple our salary cap. How can we afford a player that wants Surtain like money? Id much rather have given Surtain the money rather than a defensive tackle. Simon maybe good but he has played as good as he used to be. If we could get him for an AFFORDABLE price then I think we should go after him. But right now he is asking for way to much money. Paying him a lot of money will not help us in the long run. We need to put more money into the offense side of the ball. Id much rather put this money into an offensive linemen. That is the position that is going to make or break us not defensive tackle. If Simon wants a lot of money i say screw him. He was complaining all the time to the eagles about his contract. Why will he accept less money for us when the Eagles are a possible superbowl winner. Anyways this is only my opinion, and if we could get him for a reasonable contract id be happy. Otherwise Id be mad that we got rid of Surtain if Simon gets a big contract.

total access just said he narrowed it down to 3 teams colt bengeals & seahawks

Maybe he decided the Dolphins won't give him as much money as he wants. The Colts desperately need some talent on D. He could be a big addition to that team.

yeah that sounds right. Sabans not one to toy with players. When Simon contacted the dolphins or whatever, Saban probably told him straight up that he wasn't getting a long term contract, and he wasn't getting big bucks either.

This thread was about how we don't want to cripple our cap, but saban would never do such a thing. ever.

What I didn't like about Simon and his agents comments were money was #1. Well that goes against TEAM in every sense. Money is great but let's see him play for a losing team. Life isn't so wonderful when you are on a bad team. Just ask JT about last year with Miami. No wonder Philly finally said Don't let the door hit you in the Azz on the way out! You want to build with Bruschi type guys that take less but want to stay with the right organization not Show Me The Money guys like Simon.

They just lost LB Kendyll Pope the whole season for violating the substance abuse policy.

I for one, think Simon would have helpe d our D tremendously. Now that is in the past, if he goes to the Colts - I think the Colts quickly become #1 in the AFC.

BTW - I agree with the post about liking to have team first guys like Bruschi - but that just isn't the norm in the NFL. That's why the Pats are startgin to run into more and more guys wanting to get paid - they have enough rings - and they just watched theri young defensive leader Bruschi have a stroke.

Money matters and these guys are going to take as much as they can get while they can get it.

Getting Simon would've been nice but QB, O-Line, and secondary take precedence.

On ESPN.com it says Ravens might be close to also signing Simon but not sure because its an insider article and I would have to subscribe to it..

good point. agree with you. Plus ask Eagles fans. SImon is a good player, sometimes very good, but not a dominating player worth the money the colts or seahawks will pay him. IF chester comes back by midseason, we'll be fine.

I really don't know what you are trying to say. Is it you think we are fine with a QB already in his 30s, and a few bad 3rd stringers?? We have to get a QB either through FA or the draft, or a trade. Do you disagree with this??
