Guys come on, you can't be serious. Half of the posters here are talking about our playoff chances and this and that how many games we need to win, you gotta stop. I think i speak for every knowledgeable Dolphin fan here when i was we gotta get real. Even if we do make the playoffs, we will not get far. We do not have the team to go all the way, hell, if we make it we will probably lose in the 1st round. You guys forget that we are STILL REBUILDING, WE ARE NOT IN ANY POSITION TO GO TO THE SUPER BOWL OR FAR IN THE PLAYOFFS. WE NEED 2 YEARS OR SO TO DRAFT THE PLAYERS WE NEED AND TO GO FAR AND HAVE AN ACTUAL SHOT.

Oh, I"m sorry. I didn't know it was off limits to talk about playoff chances when your team, has well, a playoff chance. You get real.

This year is this year. Nobody says we are going to win the Super Bowl, but talk of playoffs is legitimate and certainly OK on a fans message board.
 
We didn't play with any effort out there today. Jake Long wiffed on a lot of blocks and we just didn't play hard. With 5 more games there's a lot of football left to be played and we could easily go 2-3 or 1-4. I liked our chances before the injuries but with two OL men out now, it's basicaly a patchwork line like the rest of the NFL. All that doesn't matter though. It's how much effort they put into it and how much they want to win. Last week was tough and it put a hurt on both the Phins and Pats. Pats are probably done for the season and IMO the Dolphins could just as easily fold.
 
That may be but God man, when's the last time the Dolphins have been this relevant this late in the season?! Have some fun and enjoy the ride!
 
Whats your point? I know theres a good chance we won't make it, but we are still in the race with 4 winnable games left. Its not the far fetched idea you make it out to be. I'm well aware that we are not a Super Bowl team, but I dont think anyone here believes we are. I'll just be happy if we can stay in the race until the end and put on a good show if we do make it. Everyone knows we are not winning the SB, so I dont see your point
 
im sorry that i got my hopes up for my team that i had to hear everyone laugh at me for going 1-15... and now that were winnin games it puts a big smile on my face and confidence and some pride
 
Even if we don't have a shot to go far in the playoffs, the fact that it would be our first berth since the 01' season means a lot. Making the playoffs this year still imo remains slim. We likely have to win our last four games. Three of those four are on the road and two of them are against teams with non-losing records. It is a very tough road to the playoffs. I am very hopeful that we can pull it off, but I am not getting my hopes up just yet. This game against Buffalo I believe will go a long way in determining if we make the playoffs or not.
 
It's the thrill of the hunt that makes things exciting. So what if we all know that this team isn't championship level. I haven't seen this team make the playoffs since I really started following the team closely in 2002. It would be nice to watch my favorite team in a playoff game even if we didn't end up on the winning end. Making the playoffs is very significant when you are talking about perception and being able to say that we aren't in a playoff drought any longer. If we don't make the playoffs (still a really good chance on that one) we're just gonna be another mediocre team that had a fluky year and made a few headlines.
 
We all know that no unexpected team has ever made or won the Super Bowl. Especially like when Kurt Warner's Rams beat the Patriots in Tom Brady's first year, or last year when the Patriots went 19-0 and beat the lucky Giants. Oh wait.

Which team is so good that Miami would stand no chance against in the first round?

I agree that we are not a true Super Bowl contender, but I completely disagree that this team needs 2 more years or so to get the players they need.

Also, it's never a bad thing to get into the postseason. Even a loss would give a lot of young players important experience and would raise expectations for the entire franchise.
 
Yup you're right dude, thanks. Myswell not cheer for them the rest of the season or even watch any more games. Next season is probably a wash for the super bowl too eh? So I guess I'll see you guys in 2 years when we have a legit shot...woooot!!!

Realistically, we dont have the talent to be SB contenders. We can win any given week against good/great teams, but to win 4 in a row against good/great teams...thats iffy at best. I really think we could win a first round game and surprise people though.

I actually think some Giant fans said this last year. And I am not comparing us to the Giants....but anything can happen once in the play-offs. Nothing can happen if you're not in it!
