I know that last month many were hatin and posting some pretty ignorant stuff when I went on record saying that our TEs couldn't be judged for not putting up as good numbers as we would had liked because of the bad QB play....

I also went on to say that Martin was better than Peele and that he was not cut because the staff felt he had the talent to be a good TE.

Well, eat crow. :up:
 
When I watched his press conference I heard him say that about David Martin, and I couldn't believe it. This is the same David Martin that whiffed on a lot of blocks that got his quarterbacks killed (mainly Beck), and had a lot of key drops.
 
....same Martin who looked pretty good the last 4 games...yeah, that one.
 
Martin is just average at best makes some good catches half the time then the other half drops easy ones and is a horrible blocker.

He says he likes that he's big and athletic. Big deal. He'll change his mind after Martin drops more key 3rd down passes.

I don't judge Martin on his numbers, I judge him on his inability to catch the damn ball, and his inability to block anyone at all. He's a very athletic guy with lots of potential, which is why we're keeping him, but so far he's played unbelievably poorly. No player on our roster made me more angry than David Martin last year. I certainly hope he can turn it around, but I wouldn't bet on it.

If anybody thinks Martin is good they have zero credability, this guy's picture is listed beside the word medicore in the dictionary. If Martin ever proves me wrong I will eat crow but just because you have Sparano with the patented coachspeak makes him no better at TE. In fact now the praise he had for Ginn makes me wonder. Martin was not cut because we have noone else and he is fairly cheap.
 
Well with so many holes to fill and not enough quality players available to fill all these holes you know the old saying. Make chicken salad from chicken s##t...

I expect the coach to talk up his players especially in his first year! I believe little of what I read anymore these days on any topic news, sports etc...

We will see whos on the opening day rosters and where until than we are just wasting our times with these discussions.

It's right before the draft, so here's how I interpret those remarks:

Sparano: We're going to draft a TE and at least 1 CB, but I don't want anyone to know that so we're going to put out a lot of dissinformation before the draft.

Parcells is not one to show his cards before draft day. He literally hand-picked this staff, so don't expect his disciples to veer from the playbook. These comments do not mean what was said IMHO.

I fully expect us to draft a TE in rounds 3 or 4 (possibly Jermichael Finley or John Carlson), and at least 1 CB (possibly 2 DB's). These areas will most certainly be addressed, and if we do not address them via the draft (unlikely IMHO), then we'll definitely see more competitive FA's.

I want a TE that strike fears in the defense. Teams have to account for guys like Jason Witten, Antonio GaTEs, A Gonzalez too name a few. David MArtin not so much.

Well it would make sence to draft a TE that was a also a threat to catch the ball and run for 20 yards. It makes up for all the receivers that were cut.
 
LMAO MR.ED wow what do you expect him to say they blow ??? Peele can catch well but has a very hard time blocking. Martin seemed to be an ok blocker but had the drop problems in his catching ability game.

So why should they eat crow ??? If we draft a tight end in 3-4 rounds we know there is a issue with them if we don't then i'd say you're right. Then we eat crow.
