We could have unloaded JT for Quentin Groves.
Jacksonville screwed us sooooo bad.

no, they played the game right.

And hey, is it really that bad being stuck with Jason Taylor?

I want Groves badly too man, I feel ya.

Mvp??

I guess we forget that JT was the Defensive MVP two years ago!!And still is playing on a level where teams have to gameplan against. JT is better than anyone we could have got in the 2nd or 3rd.

Don't worry.

The Jaguars will be in Los Angeles in a couple of years.

:D

i wanted to unload JT and i really dont understand JAX giving up the house for derrick harvey...im happy with JT though

Yea but we were definately shopping him, yet no teams were really interested. They were more interested in guys like Harvey and even Groves. That says alot to me. Perhaps you are overestimating JTs value.

We have to remember that the rumors may have been just that, rumors and never any real truth to it. And even if it was true and it fell apart, then we keep JT for either the whole season or part and then trade him to a contender for much better value than we could have received today (ala Chambers from last year).

That's the big question. Harvey is an ok player, but certainly not worth trading into the top 10 to get. This appeared to be an act of desperation. They could have likely gotten JT for their 2nd rd pick.
Harvey was dominated by Jake Long. I actually think Merling will be a better pro DE than Harvey.
Neither Harvey or Groves are in JT's class. While I wanted to trade JT, I certainly didn't want to give him away and I think that's what the Bucs and Jags were hoping for.
At this point I would consider keeping JT. The team won't be as bad as some people think. They will be a physical, hard hitting team.

I don't think so. I think the entire league felt we were desperate to unload JT and they figured they could get him at a bargain price. Hopefully BP and JI aren't that gullible.
It was reported earlier in the week that some GM's were quoted as saying they wouldn't give up anything more than a 4th for JT.
The way I see it, the average 4th rd pick has less than a 50% chance of being an above average starter. The odds are that they are more likely to be career backups or out of the league in 2-3 yrs.
I would rather have a pro bowl impact edge rusher like JT for 2-3 yrs than take a chance on a 4th rd pick who may end up contributing nothing. You would think a team on the verge like the Jags would see that. But no, they go and overspend (draft picks) on an unproven player like Harvey.

How can you say so confidently that we can't get a player as good as JT in the 2nd or 3rd when JT was a 3rd rounder himself. Point is its not about this season we need a guy we could get and be good for 6-7 years not get 1 or maybe 2 more seasons out of an aging vet.

I certainly agree with you that Harvey, although a very good prospect, is not worth trading the farm nor paying top 10 money. He was manhandled by Jake and tended to disappear at times. I was rather shocked when I saw that Jax moved up so far and was really shocked when I saw what they gave up to do it.

Why do people judge JT's worth by what we were offered? Face it, we're a rebuilding team that has been willing to take whatever we can get for veteran players over the last few years...do you really think we're getting fair offers? Maybe holding out for a few months will get us better picks for next year. Or perhaps JT stays, we win 7-8 games next year and suddenly free agents are interested in playing here again.
