that first Steeler TD pass to Washington, Tillman really blew it. And I'm not talking about poor coverage or communication. I watched it a couple of times and he was in prime position to put a big hit on the receiver to make him drop the ball. I thought safeties liked to put big hits on people, especially when they're up in the air like that. Everyone, including Saban, is talking about better communication amongst the secondary, but no one is talking about the weak tackles. You can only coach that up so much, but I think it really boils down to pure talent and fire. I really hope Allen can come in some time this season and make an impression on oppenents WRs, both literally and figuratively, with his hits.

Tillman is garbage...Lets get that point across. The two starters should be Bell at SS and Allen at FS when ready to go....but when we have Hill playing FS who is a cornerback along side with who I think is the worst starting safety in the game in Tillman..Your going to get beat. For Nate Washington to somehow get enough room to catch that ball over tillman makes me sick.

all u hear is how complex saban's d is. and how long it takes to get it down, the kids at LSU didn't seem to complain. the rams beat denver last week with the new defensive coordinator haslett's complicated schemes and 64 different blitz packages. we need to stop making excuses about the scheme. saban has a "buy" this year but the players don't.

I really like what I've seen from Bell and I don't understand why Saban doesn't see him as a starter.

I think he is starting this week...in place of Lehan who "hands to the face" it last week

clownfish, where ya been?

tillman stinks he is really not a starting caliber safety we desperately need to bring in a free agent to replace him in the starting role

no we don't... a new guy would have the same learning curve as everyone else...let them get used to the system and you will be surprised how well they play...we have plenty of talent on the team, they just need time.

Unless his name is Lance Schulters.....

I hate to break it to everyone but untill we get some pass rush from our Blitz's its not going to matter who is in the secondary

No Pass rush on blitz = less people in coverage + time for the QB = giving up big plays

First off i never said he was the awnser to our problems, you said that if we signed a safty they would have the same problem learning the system or somthing to that efffect, and i then replied not if his name were lance shculters because obviously he played for us last year

o and btw i DO think Lance would upgrade our secoundary, he is better then Tillman IMO, i really never liked tillman untill people here started to rave about him and how they thought he was good, because maybe they were seeing somthing i wasnt

but as proof from this topic, im not the only person who really doesnt llike Tillman, hes a decent backup man but not a starter

You make it sound as easy as Saban going down the the local Wal Mart and picking up a starting quality Safety.
Not that easy I'm afraid.

You can't go shopping for solid starters 2nd week into a season, those players tend to be signed already.

1st week is over, let's see how the secondary plays this week.

As for Schulters others have posted good reasons why he's just not an option in many threads before. Unless the bottom really falls out on us, I don't see us bringing him in.
