I hate we let him go.

Alrig
his biggest mistake was attaching himself to Tua with that contract. But they brought him in to save face with Tua draft pick or you would have kept Flores. They forced Tua on him. He made it work. But he shouldn’t have backed Tua for contract. That was his downfall.
McDaniel best coach we had since jimmy Johnson and most success. Prove me wrong with facts and not insults.

Okay let’s say you’re right and he doesn’t attach to Tua. Does it matter? So we didn’t sign Tua and we aren’t locked into his contract. He walks. Now what? We drafted Spencer ratler?

Whoever we drafted or played? Does it matter? Would a McDaniel coached team have been successful with a defense that doesn’t get on track until mid season? We’d still be riddled with mental mistakes, team would have still struggled second half once teams adjusted and he’d still end up fired.

The reality is he was a one hit wonder who’s only hit was a gimmicky motion based offense that relied on a future hall of fame borderline top 10 all time wideout and a qb that needed to play at a pretty high level. Once those two things were no longer happening, he was exposed.

His offense was the only thing that made him presentable as a coach and the last two years as teams adjusted, he’s been useless as a coach. So many flaws it’s not even funny.

I agree that McDaniel was a refreshing personality change from the typical coach. The success that we had those first 2 years and saving Tua’s career during that time I will remember fondly. I was at their “coming out party” game in Baltimore in 2022, my favorite memory I’ll have from this era. But ultimately, the league caught on and Mike was slow to adjust. As I said in another thread. The fireable offense was ultimately ending the year with TEN straight scoreless 3rd quarters. That points to a bigger issue than a regressing Tua.

Well said

I would not be surprised if he becomes successful elsewhere. Not that he got the most out of his teams here, but not like his teams underperformed with the level of talent they have either. I think his teams performed to their talent level and didn't quit on him.

In his 4 years, 2023 was the most complete team by far and as soon as the thin OL had a majority of its starters out due to injury they had no answer. It will be interesting to see how he does on a team with a solid GM bringing in talent.

Even though Tuas garbage, I don’t think that’s why McD wasn’t ready to be a HC. He did a lot of positive things in terms of maxing out a limited QB and innovating motion. But he also lacked a lot of traits that a HC needs. He’ll be very successful as an OC and maybe someday, he’ll get another chance. Im not sad to see him go.

whats a wind streak?

I'll give you two scenarios.
1. Mike Mcarthy/Stefanski/Saleh/Kubiak/etc bullshit, with a new gm and qb
2. Mcdaniel with a new gm and qb.
I'm taking #2 everytime.
Fair you still have hope for the guy. A lot of us are too red of seeing it always go the other way. Grier had to go McDaniel I wasn’t so concerned if we had to keep. However TUA has to go, I’d take a shot with Ewers and bring in Green Bay’s backup for next year competition as we buildout.

That could be said of every coach in Miami who lasted a few years - the GM ALWAYs screwed the pooch but the HC took the job… that’s the truth

I mean it’s embarrassing how poorly the GMs in Miami have produced and the coach and GM pointing the finger back and forth who picked the groceries -

McD was an emotional coach he didn’t routinely set up his team for success he lacked preparation couldn’t get plays in etc… and he may be better in the future but he was not good for us our talent wasn’t even that bad but we have Zero depth. He made the fans anxious every freaking set of downs imagine the O in the huddle every set of downs being on edge (even as Tua made the fans anxious when he ran with the ball….)

Most Every O Series the past 4 years was a circus even when we scored - Not good and it rests on him as the Leader

Title says it all.

McDaniel’s biggest mistake was hitching himself to Tua at the hip, and that experiment failed miserably. My frustration peaked after the Buffalo loss to clinch the division. That game alone told me Tua wasn’t it. He never had the clutch gene at Bama the way I wanted him to, why I wanted us to draft him. I’ll admit it, I wanted Tua over Herbert in the draft. After that playoff game, I knew I was wrong, so wrong.

And yet, McDaniel still managed to make Tua look like an All-Pro/MVP for one season. He had to limit what he could even do offensively because of Tua’s limitations. No other coach in the NFL could’ve pulled that off. That alone says everything about McDaniel. Down the stretch this year, those players played their asses off for him. You don’t get that kind of buy-in by accident.

The reason I’m so upset is simple: there is literally no one I think is better than McDaniel that we could realistically hire, including Harbaugh. If Mcdaniel had a qb like Lamar... My god, I couldn't even imagine what we could have been.

He will succeed elsewhere. Give him a real NFL quarterback and watch him cook. I’m disgusted with the fans who called for his head — they’re going to regret it.

I know I'm in the minority here, so being flamed is welcomed and expected. We're all on the same team here, I'm just expressing my frustrations.
Shut up dude
Your post is an embarrassment
You’re trying to get a reaction here and the smart posters won’t take the bait

Give me some craziness like we saw in the first half of 2023 on offense.

Mad respect for you posting this. Don’t let the idiots try to lie and make it out this franchise was winning before he arrived. It been a loser franchise for years. But they blame McDaniel. They are dumb. Can’t wait for the firings in 3 years again. I am rooting for it just like some of these guys rooted against McDaniel. See ya in three years lol.
The fans should set there standards higher just as the owner should. It shouldn't matter what happened in the past. If the head coach is not getting the job done or at least improving then why keep him around? Why try to force an underwhelming head coach on a new GM.

Sure Sullivan and the new head coach may fail. That doesn't mean you don't keep trying until you get it right. Why are people dumb for hoping the owner keeps attempting to turn the team into a winner?

Can we at least stop with the leader of men psycho babble

Men who sacrifice their bodies to make a living, don't need tough guy rah rah speeches and fist bumps to perform

He was 35-35 in 4 years. Who cares.
Just not good enough. If you're bringing in a new GM and he doesn't want to work with the head coach you currently have, who hasn't won anything, then you move on from that coach. If you're trying to rebuild the team properly then you want to have your GM and head coach on the same page from the start.

Not the stuff of a well rounded team - lots of fun for the fan

Still for me, Smoke & Mirrors hardly sustainable especially wouldn’t travel in inclement weather - zero depth at any position and if the officiating put away the whistle which they tend to do and they did we were terribly exposed at least Tua was
