Just now on NFL Live they compared Philip Rivers to Dan Marino.

...they both played QB in the NFL I guess.

When I saw him in an all-star game out of college, he definitely reminded me of Dan because of the throwing motion (and the results that night).

I think Rivers is a great quarterback and could very well achieve Dan Marino status; I have been saying this since 2003. That comparison at this point in his career is rediculus

You have got to be joking.

I'd being willing to bet that the statement was something like:

"Rivers reminds me of Dan Marino" or "Rivers throws the ball like Dan Marino" and not "Rivers is as goods as (or will be as good as) Marino".

What's the big deal? Someone will come along someday and be Marino-like, perhaps event better. I think the comparisons of their throwing motions is accurate. Time will tell if Rivers can become the kind of QB that Marino was.

Yeah you're right. I saw it too and it was, "you can sprinkle a little Dan Marino on that." They basically said there was a tiny comparison.

IMO, a sign of greatness is when you become one of the standards that people are compare to. It is not a sign of disrespect. Very early in Marino's career, he was compared to Namath and Fouts. After 1984, Marino was never compared to anyone.

somehow or another everybody gets compared to Dan.....I'm still waiting for the Vick comparison:lol:

I doubt that will ever happen, seeing as how Marino's strength (throwing the ball) is Vick's weakness, and Vick's strength (running) is something Marino rarely did (although he had great pocket presence, with quick moves to avoid the rush).

Wow, a LITTLE bit early to put the kid up thee with Dan the Man!

yo its sad, but they have to fill the espn 6hour pre-game show with something, dont they?

First time I have heard that...I always heard Rivers to Kosar comparisons

HACK

this is a bit funny to me.... but anyway, I recall back when Dan had his short stink as Pres of the Fins his first task was to go analyze/scout Rivers in college. Dan came back and loved Rivers! He even compared him to himself. Just my 2 cents.

I saw a little of the game tonight- the quick release and accuracy did remind me of Marino. My guess is that's what they were talking about, not that Rivers is as good as Marino.

the motion, size, release, and intagibles remind me of marino to. this is why i was so high on him when he was coming out.
