Could Ricky be outsmarting all of us, Dolphins staff and the NFL?

Please hear me out, after reading this article

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphins/content/sports/epaper/2006/02/21/a1c_PBP_RICKY_0221.html

A thought occured to me. What if Ricky purposely sobataged his own test to force an appeal with a substance he knew he could contest and win.

I know what your thinking, "why the hell would he do that"?

I think maybe he knew he was trade bait. He also said he had "2 years left" that he wanted to play. Strange he had two years left on the contract he broke when he retired.

Now it appears that because of the appeal, he will not be tradable to anyone until after the draft. He knows that Nick wants picks for him.

He sealed his own fate and made the Dolphins keep him for one more season to pay off his debt to them, then retire a free unburdoned person.

I know this sounds too far fetched for some, but after I really thought about it, it makes sence...

Any thoughts?

I don't think Ricky has the IQ to be purposefully scheming like this....and what does Ricky have to gain by getting suspended for a whole year???....nothing. Sorry, cant buy your theory.

Unless he wants to stay in Miami to get a Super Bowl Ring.

no, that's the beauty of it. Maybe he chose a chemical he knew would give a false negative.

Actually, Ricky is a pretty inteligent person, strange, but defanitally smart.

Well, Rick is a Mensa. I think your on to something.

I actually think the opposite.

If the Dolphins wanted too much for Ricky, the fact is he would have stayed here. Who suffers for that? Rickys agent.

Everyone with half a brain knows that the eight million hanging over Rickys head is gonna have to be resolved if Ricky is traded. That is exactly what Ricky and Leigh want. He can then get a new contract with his new team, instead of playing in Miami for nothing.

Who wants to get beat up for nothing?
Funny how he tested positive right around this time of the year, eh?

I agree...... Ricky is very smart he spends alot of his time studying and BLAZInG..... I dont think he is dumb to fail the test a fourth time with something other than weed... COME ON THE BOY wants to stay...... anywhere else they just wouldnt understand him because he is a little bit weird and he is probably scared that he will be treated bad in another team like what happened to him in NEW Orleans

GREAT THEORY

While I don't buy that theory either, I do disagree with your comments on his IQ. Everything that I've seen, heard, read, points to Ricky being fairly intelligent.

dun DUN dun...conspiracy theorists, unite!

In all seriousness, the risk is way too much for that. If (when?) he loses the appeal, the plan is shot. As is his career.

agreed
And I don't think the deal ever was "you play 2 more years and the debt is forgiven."
More like "Stay outta trouble and play football and we will see."

And if he is traded, Id think the same...it will get resolved in Ricky's favor and he would never have to think about paying 8 million plus dollars again

Interesting theory, but no dice

...of course it IS Ricky Williams....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! He could just retire a year after being traded and keep his $9 million from Miami.

You guys and your wacky theories are awesome. If a player ever concocted such a complex and risky plan just to avoid being traded, then he should be elected into the Hall of Fame. First ballot.

The more likely scenario is that he did it so Miami would cut him, leaving him to retire and burn up in the sunset.

Thanks. Enjoy your delusion that Ricky Williams is actually a member of MENSA.

For the record, I do think he is a good guy who is fairly intelligent.

its win..win for him

think about it.

he purposly fails the test with something that can be appealed...

now if he wins the appeal he puts in another year with the phins.. more importantly there isnt much of a chance of him being traded.

if the appeal is overruled... odds are the phins will write off his debt and he wont have to play ball again (which is probably what he prefers)

so in either case he wins. he gets kicked off the team or stays with a team he is comfortable with.
