why does our offense look as bad (if not worse) than it did last year at this point? I know we're not game planning or anything but neither are our opponents. Last year we had Foerster and Wise as OC and OL coach and we blamed them for the lack of chemistry and lack of execution on offense (Wanny also took the blame). Plus, we didn't have any real threat at RB so you can pretty much say that our O played as good as the talent would allow. This year, we brought Linehan here to help us put some points up on the board and Houck to teach our OL how to block and it seems as if our team is doing everything but that. At the end of the season, Bates made the comment about how we had more needs on D than we did on O but it doesn't seem that way so far. Here are the offensive facts (pun intended).

-Our 1st team offense has yet to score a touchdown.

-We are averaging roughly 15 ppg.

-If you take away the Jason Glenn INT returned for a TD, we've only scored
37 offensive points which averages out to a little over 12 ppg.

-Feeley and Frerotte have combined to complete 56% of their passes (50/89) for 471 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

-Feeley and Frerotte are averaging 5.3 YPP and 9.42 YPC.

-Out of the 37 offensive points scored, only 13 of the points have been scored by our 1st or 2nd string offense

-Brock Berlin has as many TD passes as Frerotte and Feeley have combined and he's played in one less game!

-We've rushed for 154 yards this preseason averaging 2.9 YPC.

-We've allowed 6 sacks this preseason (Not that bad since 3 of them came in one game vs. the Steelers)

I thought you said you knew it was just preseason?

Statistics mean nothing. The most high powered offense was shut down in the playoffs with rookies and recievers playing in the secondary. The parity in the NFL is unreal. There was no gameplan whatsoever last year. At least this year we see new scheemes, actual coaching and enthusiasm. THEY ARE LEARNING. We may or may not be gangbusters this year. But we will be much improved.

Answer me this question: Despite the fact that it's preseason, did you honestly think that after the 3rd preseason game our O would be this inept with all of the improvements we've made?

I wouldn't mind being 0-3 if our O actually looked like an Offense out there. The offense doesn't look sharp at all. In what way do you see this offense improving? I see an offense that to this point, hasn't had the ability to move the ball into the opponents side of the field let alone score.

Preseason records mean nothing. What I want to see out of the preseason is the coming together of a team. I want to see plays being executed precisely. I want to see things coming together not a finished product. I've seen that on D, but not on O.

Yet another worthless thread...:shakeno:

Thanks for another worthless post to add to my worthless thread. If it's worthless, why did you bother to post on it? I guess that says more about you than anything.

The problem is the issues that were going on last season are carrying over to preseason.

Every year it's the same, it's only preseason. When you can't even complete a pass or make a yard in a "vanilla" offense then you have problems. When you have issues hanging on to the ball, you have problems.

If it acts like a duck, talks like a duck, and walks like a duck... Well I guess we have ducks.:D

Miami has never been a very good preseason team. But I can tell you for the last couple of years our problems have carried over. Thank god we don't have the injury bug this year.
