Ireland < Hickey

I know we haven't officially signed anyone yet but the fact that he is calling around to all the prospective free agents. Plus we have our name in the hat for other good players. This is exactly what I've been waiting for, someone who knows how to make the rounds. No G.M. is perfect but some are better than others and Hickey is already seeming better than Ireland.

I'm just glad Ireland is gone. I really could care less who he is replaced by. This is a collaborative effort with Philbin having more say so than acknowledged. Now that he has a GM that will communicate with, this team is set up to succeed down the road.

Yes, Jeff really excelled himself on the Philip Wheeler deal with the guaranteed ballooning second year payment. Jeff - that was one of your finest.
Jeff also had the opportunity to get Albert last season but was so eager for Jonathan Martin to play LT, that he didn't pull the trigger. Yes, Jeff really excelled in his final year as Dolphin GM.

He also resigned Grimes but I'm sure you do not think anything of it. Ireland would have done the same thing right? Like when he resigned Jake Long, Reggie Bush, and Sean Smith. I was just stating that even in this initial stage that is meaningless, Hickey has already made more hype for the team than Ireland ever did.

Hickey has done nothing so far - absolutely nothing.

Grimes was the easiest deal any gm will ever do, the guy did not want to leave Miami and took a very team friendly deal to make it happen - a contract almost certainly handled by Aponte.

And now we hear he is going to overpay to get a vet LT- against easy stuff

Because Ireland was always so active this early on right? Please. I have seen the Dolphins be mentioned in the media for showing interest in major free agents in the last day or 2 than ever before.

I'm not defending Ireland here. I'm just saying we had a very active offseason last year too. Yet, Hickey does one thing (signing Grimey), which I think Ireland probably would have done. That and rumors cause you to say Ireland < Hickey. Just shows the mentality of this board in regards to Ireland.

It is laughable to make any determinations on Hickey before FA has even started. As with Ireland, the true measure will be the draft, and we won't truly know the results of that until 2 years from now...
