Pouncy was also the center under 99% of the lame run games over the past few years.
Jay would have done the same thing with steen in the middle. And this is all very, very good for us because when you have a special talent, a guy who faces 8 in the box on your end zone and busts off a 53 yd run with stiff arms and muscling through gang tackles,etc..., It won't matter who the center is!. Remember how frustrating guys like Thurman Thomas were? Every time a lineman for the bills went down or retired or multiple injuries up front, it was same old Thurman. HATED THAT!!!
Emmit, Dickerson, Falk, Charles, Simpson, Anderson, Sanders, Czonka, Ricky Williams, Peterson, Campbell, Brown, etc....., all did their thing no matter who was in front, whatever scheme or whatever team they had. We, the lowely, unlucky dolphins now appear to have that caliber of back, the guy who does something when there isn't anything. He doesn't need gase or pouncy or pro bowlers at every line spot. That's great news for us!!! ENJOY!!!
And let's face facts. If 2 players show up to that meeting on time, gase is still running his 16 man turn style rb rotation that was getting no one any where. Gase got poop house lucky having those events unfold. It wasn't by any Devine inspiration from the amazing gase. But again, it's good for us, all of us that this happens.
