As a football player, of course he is great. He has some of the nastiest moves in the league. I love watching his highlights.

That said, I think he is awesome for a different reason. After reading and seeing and hearing all the thoughts of Ricky Williams over this year, and since he's been in the NFL really, he is a really smart guy. REALLY smart.

That is not to say stable, or rational, or even sane, I just think we have one of the smartest players in the world on our very own Dolphins and I love that!

I never had a problem with him wearing a helmet during press conferences. I thought it was great, mostly cause I hate the media, and I hate the media cause I work in it.

I love that he does his own thing. I can't say I was pissed when he left, more disappointed and dissatisfied. But I thought it was great why he did it. Yes, pot was one reason, but another was playing for you know who and how awful it is.

It is very difficult for intelligent people to assimilate into society, precisely because so many people are just not that smart, or rather, I should say, intellectual. So it makes it hard for smart people to be around dumb people, and especially to work for dumb people, or people who strike you as dumb. I guarantee if Wanny was more philosophical Ricky would not have left. He didn't quit, he left.

Ricky Williams is an intellectual. I think that's awesome.

Does anyone else think Ricky Williams seems very smart?

He certainly has a prime opportunity to support your hypothesis. No disrespect for Ronnie, he's a great addition, but I hope Ricky comes back like freakin Superman.

I agree, Ricky is a very smart person.

I used to like that about Tim Ruddy as well, he was real smart, even if he wasn't such a great center, which makes Ricky all the better! He is smart AND a great baller.

I'll always remember Tim Ruddy saying "Lotto is a tax on the stupid." What a great quote.

His Wonderlic scores were supposedly very high.

His written grammar is actually pretty poor.
I've read some of his stuff and was surprised at how poor the writing was. Especially in letters he used to write on RunRickyRun.com.
They were written like a middle schooler.

Poor grammar is not always indicative of a person's intellect. But I noticed the same thing. He's not a writer, he's a thinker.

Grammar doesn't reflect intelligence. That said, I am not too happy to see Ricky back.

True enough.

From his interviews I gather that he is a deep thinker.
Although there are many deep thinkers and geniuses that can assimilate in society without acting like a reclusive weirdo.

I don't think it's fair to put him on a pedastil.
The problem isn't the rest of the world or the Dolphins.
The problem was Ricky.
He has demons that go way beyond being an intellect

ricky just wants to be smart
i promice he would trade all his football talents to be smarter
but he is totaly a psudo intelectual and completely insane

that being said, he is one hell of a football player

I agree he is nuts, but I disagree about him being a pseudo-intellectual. He is very aware, very present, yet also living firmly in the realm of the mind.

And I am not putting him on a pedestal, I'm just saying I think it is cool we have one of the smartest players in the league playing for the beloved Fins.

Before Ricky retired, he was easily one of the top five backs in the NFL. Yes, he is a very smart guy and doesn't care what people think of him as long as he makes himself happy. I really wasn't upset when he walked out on the Phins last year cause players get cut all the time without warning. I must say that I am really glad to have him back and can't wait to see him and Ronnie lined up together!!!!

When in The game Ricky Williams is the best athlete in the NFL. ITs not Vick TOmlinson MAnning HOlmes Ray LEwis, It is Ricky Williams, He is the best at the game and the position, I remember1 GAme againt Denver when the Ofiicilas thought he was d own and he wasnt , the replay showed the his great balance kept him above the ground and his cutbacks are way better than Lt

ricky williams is one hell of a rb im glad he is on our team he will only make r.brown better.
