he is gonna be great for us. my friend is a 49ers fan and he said nothing but great things about him. he said we are very lucky.

me too, Saban has brought in several players that are gonna be big for us this year, you'll see!!!

This will be one of those underated signings with a guy who can run and pass block well and also catches the ball. Should be very helpful all around player.

even if he has a bad year he is still an upgrade over what we had the last few years!! Saban is putting together one heck of an offseason so far I just cant wait for draft day!!

I agree. After Pep, Beasley is my favorite signing. IMO he is one of the best blocking FBs in the league. I think it will dramatically improve our running game (which wasn't horrible to begin with). In particular, I think it will improve our ability to convert on third and short.

He allows for Ronnie and Randy to release instead of half the time having to stay in to help block out of i-form or split back sets. He is an underrated pass blocker, at least that's what my San Fran buddy tells me.

I like it because it brings great pro bowl skills to an underrated position. I think Fred is gonna be a major influence in the locker room too, considering he is probably the oldest player we have on offense.

Great move IMO, he is going to lay some licks on some LB's and open holes for brown to break into the secondary.

yea its a great signing for all the reasons you guys mentioned... but IMO more important is what this says about our offensive formations.

Unless beasleys only going to be used in short yardage/obvious running situations, him in the starting lineup means we wont really be running the same offense as last year, which featured more 2 TE and/or spread formations.

This is an interesting signing and considering that we signed Peelle and Campbell recently, it almost seems like we are setting up a truly dynamic offense that can run all sorts of variations of the 2 RB sets, 2 TE sets and/or 3 WR spreads...

Who's our starting FB then? Will Beasley beat out Peep (I think his name is?)
Our previous FB was Darian Barnes. He was a good blocker, but ****ty in catching passes. With the arrival of Beasley, his spot on the roster is pretty much gone. Its too bad though, I was starting to like him.

As long as he's a big blocker to clear the way for ROnnie, That sounds GOOD to me.

The only thing that concerns me with this signing is Beasley's neck...I believe that's what kept him out of SF's lineup last season. Having a fullback with a bad neck is not a good thing.
