I really do. So many miraculous things happened there. So much magic. Yeah, it's seen better days but it has so much more style than Joe Robbie/Pro-Player/Dolphins Stadium. I realize we'll have that huge new screen in there, but that pales in comparison to how loud it got in there. Fans were closer to the field. When that place was rocking, you could feel it. I went there with my Dad in 1980 to see the Jets play. It was just awe inspiring. Everything from the palm trees visable from the endzone to the memories of our undefeated season, the '81 Dolphins-Chargers playoff game, the '82 Dolphins-Jets slopfest with A.J. Duhe's 3 INTs...I just miss the place.

I will ALWAYS miss the OB.
Dolphin stadium is incapable of creating the same electricity and home field advantage. It just isn't built right to hold the noise.

The infamous Phin Bears 85 match up, it was so loud everyone of us in my group got a pounding headache.
We didn't care though, all that energy, it was an amazing experience.

No offense, but the Orange Bowl is a dump compared to Phinz stadium....

Horrible parking, horrible concessions, and extra long lines. Not mention the place feels like it's about to fall down everytime the fans get worked up. The Orange Bowl should be considered an historical landmark these days. Sure, it has a ton of history, but I would never want to go back there to watch the Phinz play.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!!

Yeah bro but there was a mystique about the Bowl. We had an unrivaled percentage of home wins in that stadium. Same team in Joe Robie, the home winning percentage dropped.

I agree with you on the comfort factor Blitz...even tho I voted for the old girl. With the newly available videos of the "olden days" you can see how the seating was "football" orientated instead of "multi sport"

WAAAHHHHH go watch canes games then. It was special cause you were yonger and the players made it that way. Everything was bigge and better when you reflect back on it. I loved the old stadium but find todays just as good

It looks like Dolphins CEO Joe Bailey is doing some new stuff this year to make going to the games at Dolphin Stadium even better. It sounds like they're going to do everything short of having the Dolphins cheerleaders sit in your lap to make going to the games fun. I doubt there will be many empty seats for home games this year. I want the place to be packed with everyone making a lot of noise this season. The fans need to do their part and be a good "12th man". I think it makes a big difference.

:thewave:

"We’re listening to our fans and adding elements they tell us will enhance their enjoyment of the games,†Bailey says. "We’ve made big changes to deliver an even better fan experience through The 400 program."

"You will feel part of something larger than yourself,†he says. "It will be such a great experience that fans who want to guarantee their seats beyond the upcoming season should consider buying season tickets now before the ‘new’ Dolphin Stadium is sold out."

I visited the OB in May and the security guard let me go on the field. I have to say it was the most surreal experince i have ever had. All the history in that place made my head spin. From all the super bowls played there to the undefeated team to the bears-phins monday nighter, it was just mind boggling. On top of that one of the greatest fights ever took place there-Aaron Pryor vs Alexis Arguello.
I grew up with the OB and i have much, much greater memories during that time period. The OB was and still is just a very, very special place.

While you do make a valid point about what happens when you reflect back, I don't think there's any denying that because Dolphin Stadium was built wide to also accomidate soccer, there's a bit less intimacy (and subsequently atmosphere) there.

I Dont Think It Was Built Wide For Socccer Im Not Sure They Play Any Soccer There The Olympics Were All Played At The Orange Bowl A Few Years Back. I Love Both Stadiums I Never Saw Any Dolphin Games There But It Must Have Been Great I Did See Alot Of Canes Games There. Its Just To Small For What The Dolphins Demand.

The seats in Dolphins Stadium needed to be built closer to the field so we can have a true home field advantage. The seats sit way too far away. There is no other stadium in the entire NFL that has the seats sitting that far away!!!

I was watching the early year videos that are up from the OB and smiled at how close the stadium was to the feild. Hell, one end was open and it was STILL so loud at the closed end your eyes would blurr.

I know I'm an "ancient," and it probably biasis my opinion. So be it. But for intimacy, noise, excitement and sheer lunacy the "Bowl" was a great place to watch the Dolphins (even if you could feel it swaying or have an obstructed view of the field at times).

However, for comfort, safety, and modern convenience Dolphin Stadium has it beat.

Perhaps someday we can have both.
