IF....IF... this is a sink-or-swim year for Philbin, it means we need a GM/personnel guy who can be joined at the hip with him, and who can work with Aponte. Gaine can do that. He has been doing so.

THIS MAY BE A ONE-YEAR, ONE-OFF DEAL.

Go ahead and give Gaine a shot. Even make him an "interim" if you want. Just shut down the permanent GM search at this point and keep what you have. That is the best way to stop the hemorrhaging of bad press and public embarrassments.

We won't know what the future holds in the long run until this time next year anyway. The Lexus is still a year away, your kid needs braces. Think of it in that light.

I agree; give him a chance. If he's any good; we will be okay and we won't have to worry about losing him to another organization. If he sucks, we blow the whole thing up next year; removing everyone.

I want to curse the day I became a Dolphin fan where we have to take an incumbent by default because the stench of this organization is so grotesque, executives from bottem feeder perennial teams avoid us like the plague.

I won't find any solace in Brian Gaine. It's as similar as Cam Cameron asking us to appreciate the Ted Gin ****ing family.

What started off as an offseason of hope has turned into one of embarrassment and ridicule. So we can endure it for another season?

There was so much potential.

My faith is absolutely gone.

Gone.

It's been like that for a decade now, you should be used to it.

Btw, everything that involves Ross will always end up in public embarrassment. He is by far the most buffoonish rich guy I've ever seen, with the possible exception of GW Bush

Im numb to it now for the most part. This organization is so laughably inept Ross couldnt step in a 12 foot pile of **** if he tried to. Mostly its just a laughing match to see if Miami can make me laugh longer and shake my head harder this time more than they did last time.

Brian Gaine deserves a fair shot if he's promoted. You can't blame him for the mistakes of Jeff Ireland.

Being someone's subordinate does not mean that you agree with that person on everything or would go about your business in the same way as that person. In fact, I think most of you guys probably have personal experience of just the opposite.

I support the guy who eventually gets hired and accepts the job, unless its Ross pulling a Jerry Jones.....

Yes, let's settle for him because we can't get a real GM...

On the one hand. Gaine is an Ireland continuation, more than likely.

On the other, he could be fine due to knwoing the players (Ross, Philbin, Aponte) and how they tick. That could be a huge advantage, thus letting him take his own style and own players in contrast to what Ireland did.

Lastly, If Gaine gets the job it will be another huge embarrasment for Ross in the eyes of other NFL executives. Peterson will have to start feeling a little nervous abt his own reputation by hanging out with Ross.

It really blows goats that it appears to have come down to this being our best option.

It's funny that before this whole process started the statement released by the team stated that they were going to find the best, most experienced talent evaluator for the team Now by a string of subtractions we're going to have to take whoever is left who wants the job.

ALL of the top evaluators don't want any part of this team.

You'd think that Peterson at the very least, would've had some awareness being part of that ****ing "scommittee" that evaluated GMs for the NFL would have some ****ing heads up to MR. Ross as to how to go about this process and open the franchise up to be able to make this position a most attractive destination for the BEST candidates.

Ross famously stated he wanted to be "best in class". Are you ****ing kidding me?

If the initial feedback was not one or two guys, but about 5 top evaluators from across the country won't come here, I would've reassessed the entire process and structure before even starting the interviews.

And if it meant firing people to ensure that things were built properly from the ground up to establish that level of excellence I would've spared to resource to ensure it's success.

Yeah it's what some of us have been saying. If the Cerubus fails, it's an easy answer. Kill one beast with three heads. Clean sweep.

Ross should have cleaned house when he fired Sparano, but he didn't. Ross should have cleaned house when he fired Ireland, but he didn't. I think that Ross is afraid of making a clean sweep because he'd rather keep some semblance of continuity than start from scratch. The problem is this team has been so bad for so long that a complete housecleaning is exactly what's needed!

Ross now has to settle for "leftovers" at the GM position because he stubbornly decided to keep Philbin and his staff (except for Sherman). Philbin and Coyle's tinkering with the defense was just as bad as Philbin and Sherman's running of the offense. Philbin and Coyle's scheme changes turned the 3rd ranked rushing defense into the 24th, when all they needed to do was to upgrade the secondary. Philbin may seem ultra-organized off the field, but he's clueless on game day, as evidenced by the lack of adjustments on both his offense and defense.

I don't think a one year flop is an option. They have to get the right guy in this year or we could be in real trouble. Think of the mess we'll have on our hands after next season if we crap the bed again. I say do whatever it takes to get Caserio!
