I know that it's still early days and the pads are not on and we haven't got much depth at CB, but I'm really impressed with our new Head Coach and I'm optimistic for the future. I like his self confidence. Adam Gase attempts to answer every question and I can't remember the last time we had a Head Coach like that. Old Joe and Sparano were so obsessed by not giving any info that they looked like idiots at every press conference. We also now have a coach who wants to call the plays because he is good at it. This will be a major change because our Offensive Coordinators in Sherman and Lazor (and Zack Taylor) were extremely weak at the play calling.
Philbin and Sparano were old school dour discipline guys but in Gase we now have a coach from a different generation who is potentially much better skilled at actually communicating with the players. I also get the impression that the players really like our new coach. Maybe Ross, Tannenbaum, Grier and Garfinkel made a good appointment and got the right guy. Time will tell.

I'll tell you if I like him after I see the team go through a period of adversity.

As for Gase "answer[ing] every question", I think he's been every bit as opaque as any coach we've had.

I like him too and am glad that last year when the music stopped he did not have a chair to sit in for the head coach vacancies. I think that this led him to sign as quickly with the fin vacancy as he did.

Unfortunately, all we have to go on on whether to like him or not right now are things he said. I want to get to the stage where we're talking about things he's actually done and how they've worked out before I decide if I really like him

We'll get there in due time...until then, its really ok to say you like him.

You really don't have anything to lose by liking him and feeling good about the direction of the team...do you?

I like him too so far and i really wanted an experienced guy this time around.
He seems a lot more hands on than either Joe or Tony before him even though it's mainly on the offensive side.
I also like that he will be calling plays. If the offense doesn't produce it's squarely on him.

Young Shula

Hopefully he can right the ship. He certainly has the smarts, desire, fire and a great offensive track record.

My prediction -- he's either going to be GREAT or SUCK!

I'm trending towards the positive side...

BNF.

Have to disagree. I have watched every interview and every media session of Gase. I think he has been as transparent as possible, and has been quite forthcoming in his answers, and tells the media/us whether or not he will answer a question or even CAN answer a question. Sometimes, I see media pose hypothetical questions about players that he cannot answer because he won't speculate or hypothesize (it's a waste of his time), and he has no crystal ball to fabricate future scenarios at this time. Even if he could stand there are pour out his imagination, should he? For competitive reasons at least, I think not...

For what he HAS answered or COULD answer, I have appreciated his candor. He has been a straight shooter as far as I am concerned.

Why is Parker not practicing?
Gase- we're just being smart...

No idea what that answer even means. Certainly not being totally candid.

I will wait to actually see the product on the field before crowning this guy the "next Shula" thanks...we all know how right the folks crowning Phibin were (of course the will never admit it...)

I do not like no new coach in may. I will see in jan, feb

I was one sold on Philbin almost to the end. I have admitted it before and won't deny it in the future. I think it's sad people get off, enjoying the team sucking, so they can bring it up as much as possible. But being more cautious now, and so far so good. I also do think he gives less coach speak than the previous two.

Philbin showed what he was in his first year with the weakness evidenced on "hard knocks"....and him ejecting all the team leaders after his first season.

Those red flags should have ended his stay here after two seasons tops.

There is nothing wrong with liking a new coach who comes here with noted success(attributed squarely to him), that wasn't heavily the work of others(like Philbins case).

I don't blame anybody for getting excited or liking a new coach who hasn't failed yet. What I don't understand is hanging on...too long, to coaches that have proven failure and that they don't get it...like Wannstedt, Sparano, Philbin.

Lets give Gase the benefit of the doubt at least until we get well into the season before we go negative on him.
