I used to laugh at the lions fans thinking to myself (thank god I don't have to endure that hell with my Fins). Thank god I root for a team with a rich tradition in winning and class.
How do those lion fans deal with losing every year so bad??? No light at the end of the tunnel. Thank god I'm a Fins fan.

Then the Dolphins fired Don and hired jimmy. It's been a living hell ever since........

I remember that too, hell I remember the Packers pre-Favre and thinking how far they had fallen for numerous decades. In theory NFL teams can be turned around faster than ever, but I don't know...this team started sliding around 97' or so, and hasn't really shown any potential to turn it around.

Dallas too, remember the Danny white and Gary Hogeboom years but nothing as bad as the lions and packers, I remember the lions going through the Matt Millen years and how he screwed them for years

And look at where we are now, funny how life throws curveballs. What comes around goes around

Lets not compare the fins mediocre team to the lions that averaged 0-4 winsfor many seasons. PS neither Dallas nor the lions have made any noise in the playoffs over the past few years.

Seriously dude, when you watch how the fins have been losing over the past 11 years it's really comical. Sometimes I really feel like I'm watching the Keystone cops. Football follies at its best. It feels as bad as all those Lions terrible seasons

I agree it has been terrible but we have been competitive. The lions were not...

Our last playoff win was about 14 years ago.

Beat Peyton Manning with Lamar Smith's 40 carry 200 yard game. Great defensive playmakers back then.

We somehow overcame 3 interceptions by the much maligned Jay Fiedler.

We made the playoffs what 3 times since 2000? You are acting like we have losing season for the past 15 years.

Twice since 2000, in 2001 and 2008. Got handled by Baltimore both times.

It is not the losing, but the way we lose. We make obscure players, and broken down vets look like all pro's. All the late game collapses. The Monday Miracle. How many times have we been destroying the pats in the first half only to lose. The embarrassing losses on Monday's and Thursday's.
We used to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, now we fumble, bumble, and stumble.
Here we are again. A new staff, same results.
Ross will have to do something dramatic, like Robbie did bringing in Shula in 1970 to get this team back to winning. Shula was a super star. A bold move that paid off. We lost a couple 1st round picks, big deal.
Hitching your team to a GM (Ireland) that has accomplished nothing in his life, has not been instrumental to winning is simply ridiculous. He needs to have inferior people below him, because his power cannot be challenged.
Hiring another 1st time head coach (Philbin) that needs on the job training, with an OC that only had a couple of winning seasons as a head coach in college. And that OC hiring his wet behind the son in law to coach our franchise QB.
How in the hell is this going to bring us a championship?
Ross needs to get rid of Ireland and land the big fish. I am tired of these tad poles.

so we should be proud to go 7-9...maybe you should check the definition of the word competitive...we've sucked vs ANY winning team for years...remember what the saints did to us earlier?

I sure miss the days of Shula, Csonka, and Marino. I miss the days of 33 cents a gallon of gas and free stuff from gas stations too.

It was not all roses back then either. Remember the loss of Bill Arnsparger and the Olivadotti years. Remember when Csonka, Kiick, and Warfield all left for the WFL. We were hurt for years. Remember when Woody Bennet and Benny Malone were the best running backs on our team. Remember Earl Campbell destroying our defense on Monday Night. The loss to the 49ers in the Super Bowl. What about when Griese was declining and had windshield wipers on his glasses and got beat out by David Woodley(a second string QB from LSU). That stuff was pretty hard to swallow too. But we stuck with them and got rewarded.

Shula was the all time greatest coach period. We will never see another one like him. Marino was the all time greatest passer period, once again we will never see another like him.
We have seen great Dolphin Teams and we will again. That's the good thing about being a fan for 40 plus years.

Buck up little camper! Things are going to get better!

McKinnie is going to make this team better. The first step in fixing anything is defining the problem. Jonathan Martin was an experiment gone wrong. Bringing in a left tackle is that admission. McKinnie made a difference with only one week in camp. We ran the ball better. Until they shifted the rush to right side, we pass blocked better.

Tannehill is going to learn to throw the ball quicker. He will eventually figure out he needs to lead Wallace and let him use his speed. If old guys like us can figure it out, he will too.
He will start to use his feet more sure there will be times when he gets sacked for huge yards but so did Griese. Remember the sack he gave up in the Dallas Super Bowl?

Cameron Wake will get healthy again. He is the key to the defense. Odrick is getting better right beneath our noses. Our defensive backfield will be stacked when the youngsters step up.

I really don't feel bad about this team. It is a work in progress and the progress will come.

Mark my words this team will get better before the end of the year.

HAHA I love the Olivadotti years, his defenses were so bad, really bad and Shula was too loyal to him. But nevertheless we still won division and playoff games despite him and were competitive. And I say "love" with sarcasm. But I would take those years back in a second. But I do agree the fins and THill will be better by years end

And did their fans stop going to the games? Did they only root for them when they were winning?

Did Green Bay fans boo their players off the field? Did they cheer when their players got injured?

Did the Dallas fans stop loving their team?

As bad as Detroit has been, they still found support to build a new stadium and fill it.

Notice any differences between these teams and our team?

Being devoted means cheering in the good times and bad.

I understand the dismay. We don't write the checks, we don't hire the staff, we don't pick the players and we don't pay the bills. But we can buy the merchandise, we can wear our colors, we can go to the games, we can be the loudest roar in the sports bar and we can love our team.

There are a lot of things we can't do anything about. But there are a lot we can. Class is not bought, it is displayed.

Dude please, you are barking up the wrong tree. I haven't missed a snap since 1988, and I fly down to two games a year from here in the northeast STILL!!!
