I remember when

I remember that too, hell I remember the Packers pre-Favre and thinking how far they had fallen for numerous decades. In theory NFL teams can be turned around faster than ever, but I don't know...this team started sliding around 97' or so, and hasn't really shown any potential to turn it around.

Yes, Dallas, Packers, Bears and most recently San Francisco are some proud franchises who have gone through some tough times. But the team we resemble the most is the raiders. Once proud franchise, won in the seventies. Raiders and the Dolphins had 2 of the top 4 most wins in the nfl right up until 2000. Now we both have had more then a decade of losing. Not just losing games, but losing hope!
I think the biggest thing is ownership and drafting. Bottom line is we have failed drafting in the last 15 years. It starts at the top and filters down through the organization. We do not have a good owner and Gm and we haven't since JJ left. Its that simple. Our owner has made a few good decisions that didn't work out, like hiring Saban and trying to hire Harbaugh. Heck the 2000-2003 teams were really good we just didn't have a Qb in a league that had just started being dominated by good QB's.
We have a future because i think RT is better then Geno and EJ and Brady is almost done. The problem is we need consistency and unity. I think our owner wants to keep Philbin and ireland together for a few years and let this play out. However, i'm not sure they can get the job done.

"I remember when" sounds like a fun game.

I'll contribute.

"I remember when"...the Dolphins won a playoff game.

That was awesome.

I used to laugh at the lions fans thinking to myself (thank god I don't have to endure that hell with my Fins). Thank god I root for a team with a rich tradition in winning and class.
How do those lion fans deal with losing every year so bad??? No light at the end of the tunnel. Thank god I'm a Fins fan.

Then the Dolphins fired Don and hired jimmy. It's been a living hell ever since........

The Lions were actually pretty good in the 90s when Miami fired Don and hired Jimmy, they became terrible ion the 00s.

Hey Joe,

Remember when the fans ran Shula out of time. I remember seeing a guy in the stands with a banner that read Shula must go. I still see that same video on NFL Films, it pisses me off to this day, if I ever meet that guy I am going to punch him as hard as I can, right in the throat! I am sure that "instant karma" bit us in the rear on that one.

I am not sure how good Philbin is or will be, just not enough of a body of work for me to judge. I do think that there is a good possibility that getting rid of him might be falling into the "instant karma" trap.

Yeah I'm not too sure about Philbin either, but I'm willing to give him some time because I don't like musical management groups. I think we need to play it out before making rash decisions. There were plenty of coaches who didn't do well but became great HCs. Look at Bellicheat in Cleveland.

My Dad, a Packers fan his whole life, had gone through a long drought as a fan between championships. It's only really been recently that Green Bay has been consistently good. Two awesome QBs on your team, imagine that. Thinking about the long amount of time he went through as a fan where he didn't see his team win anything for years is the only thing giving me hope.

I remember when I was around 5 or so I was a Packer "fan" and that was b/c he liked them. I do think about what it would've been like had I stayed a fan of Green Bay. I would've seen two SB wins and countless playoff appearances. That would've been fun at least.

The only reason we made the playoffs in 2008 was because of the newness of the wildcat. But hey, playoffs is playoffs. Its been a very long time since Miami has been a legitimate threat to win a SB.

You can say the same about Indy. Peyton then Luck. It appears QB play makes all the difference in the world between contenders and pretenders. For us we have had no good QB since Marino and coincidently we have stunk since then. The jury is still out on RT.

The real struggle in all this, with the odd exception year up or down, we seemed mired in middle. We keep making all these changes with players, coaches, etc. but we stay right around the .500 mark. When we have a really bad year, the picks don't turn us around that much. When we finally make the exception into the playoffs, we get dumped right away. We've seen teams like Indy and KC turn it around in just one year and be true contenders, not just positioning themselves to improve in 3-4 years. Why is that? It starts at the top and trickles it way down. Good owners, smart GM's and good coaches. Same can be contibuting to why we are stuck every year where we are. That's the frustrating part of being a life-long Phins fan.

Yea..back in the seventies...I used to feel sorry for the Bills and Pats.....bad Subby, bad Subby.
