This team already has depth issues. Why waste a roster spot to carry an extra QB? The signing of Chad indicates the unhappiness and lack of faith in the current QBs to lead this team at his point in their careers. That doesnt say much for McCown, who was brought in to challenge Beck for the starting position. McCown is not in his 2nd season like Beck and really has no upside. That being said, and as tough as this is for me to say, Beck's chances of being the quarterback of the future are slim. Henne is Parcells guy and Beck didnt do much to show the coaching staff that he is anything more that Cameron's leftovers. The plan now is for Pennington to start until Henne is ready. If this is indeed the plan, why carry 4 QBs? Of course, this is simply my option and educated guess.

well, samikit feels we shouldn't keep four qbs. Guess that decides it.
I do believe that Beck is on his way out only because sporano doesn't have the time to coach up beck and henne at the same time and we are definitely going to be looking toward henne in the future. If beck could back up as is, without needing the reps, it'd be him over mccown. Mccown has that experience and will be our #2 while we groom Henne. I've been rooting for beck all along and i think he would become a better qb then mccown, but that would take practice reps that we just don't have for him.

I would bet my life savings against 4 quarterbacks being on the roster Week One. It won't happen.

Sparano mentioning that he MAY carry 4 QB's was his way of being nice to the guy who get's the boot. I was hoping that we'd see the 2 on the chopping block give it 110% to stay on the team, but unfortunately they're too busy evaluating "The Chad's" to give either (Beck or Mccown) any reps. Then again how much do you really need to see the 3rd stringer at this stage of the game? I'd bet my sister that we only carry 4. Remember downsizing is just around the corner too. And that's my edjmucated guess.

As stated many times, I would like to keep Beck and release Mccown. There are things that I like about Beck, quick release, pretty accurate and strong arm, very smart. he could maybe develope whereas we know about Mccown,cutting wood with chainsaw? I am excited about Penny/Henne coupled with the R & R express the two Chads can be effective now.
Maybe we do keep four- what are the odds of Pennington staying healthy for a whole season? I think they are trying to decide if Henne can handle starting right away when Chad P. goes down.

I am almost sure Beck is out... I believe they are trying to keep the league thinking he is still important to us so we can trade him... I think we will get a 3rd or 4th round pick... just my 2 cents..
