I mentioned a couple of days ago that it might not be a bad thing to hire an offensive consultant.
Well, Nick hired a special assistant for the team in Scott O'Brien. He's not an offensive consultant, but it is a similar idea.
O'Brien will be to Nick Saban what Ernie Adams was to Bill Belichick. This is really not a definied position, but it looks like he will be a major source of input for Nick on coaching decisions as well as a source of input when it comes to scouting. Basically, that's what Ernie Adams did for Bill Belichick.
Sometimes, it is a good thing to have someone like this to bounce ideas off of and to collect some input from. Nick hasn't been in the league for a while, and O'Brien is a person that will help him along.
